Hi, I am newly raw (3 days yay!) and i’m very excited about the wonderful changes i’ve seen in a matter of days.
How I became raw:
Back in August 2008 as my birthday approached (Sep. 4th) I had a minor crisis. I was really upset b/c I felt as if I wasn’t where I wanted to be at 24 (I just turned 24 on 9/4) and in a response I decided to do my first detox. I have been trying to do a detox for a long time but it never felt as if it was the right the time.
So I decided that the week after my birthday I was going to be raw for the whole week to detox. Before I began I pigged out on cakes, mac ‘n cheese & fried foods b/c I knew I would be giving it up for a week.
Monday 9/7/08 was the first day and wow! I have so much more energy and certain health issues that were chronically re-occuring have begun to improve. The 2nd day I was eating constantly bt I think it was because on the first day my body just didn’t know what to do with itself with all the healthiness coming in. I think it decided to extract evey lastnutrient on the first day in anticipation that the following day would be back to the same old SAD way of living. Today on day 3 though I am actually feeling satisfied.
Not sure yet if i’m gonna be 100% raw but I am looking forward to maintaining my raw-ness after my weeklong detox. However I am going to try to commit to at least a 70/30 (raw/cook) split and work my way up. My inner foodie just can’t resist the wonderful, delicious recipes that i’ve been discovering. My sweet tooth is also satisfied because all my cravingsfor sweets (i’m addicted) are satisified and i’m doing it the healthy way!
