Odd question? Maybe. I hope not.
Anyway, I was out walking yesterday and I found all these acorns on the ground. My girlfriend and I bit into one, finding it quite bitter. Are these things edible? I think a nice acorn milk would be nice somedays.
I’ve known about harvesting and eating acorns since I was a kid, but I’ve never done it. They were a staple for many Native Americans. You can’t eat them raw, though, because of the bitter tannins. Here’s a little more info I found online: http://www.solutions.uiuc.edu/content.cfm?item=...
Thank you! I guess they’re not to be eaten raw, but are still edible. That’s definitely nice to know. :)
