I'm not sure on the white miso, I THINK it's raw, but nutritional yeast isn't. The thing is, though, I use both. They're close enough for alot of raw enthusiasts, they're handy and healthy in recipes, and they're delicious! :)
you can get unpasteurized versions of miso (like South River) but nutritional yeast can't be gotten raw unfortunately.
No for either being raw.
I don't like either. I just like whole foods - ripe fruits & veggies. I gag when I think of those two items.
Well, the beauty of this site is that to each their own, it's all about learning and talking and finding new exciting recipes! Kind of judgy wudgy there, Superfood2. Since we're sharing, I gag when I see people being rude or turning their nose up, but that's just me. Anyway :) the important thing to note is that if you DO want to incorporate these foods into your diet, they are both rich in B vitamins (miso not as much, it's B-12 content isn't as strong as nutrit. yeast) protein, and nu yeast has amino acids, very good for you! Just don't eat more than 3 tablespoons a day of it, I read that eating more than that can cause a build up of ureic acid in your bloodstream and hurt your kidneys. Happy learning, Raw Angel!!!
haha. heaven forbid someone post an opinion contrary to yours, veggiebean. how "gag worthy." did you see the word "i" in my post?
many thanks to you all, you ROCK!!!!
