Is it such a great article?

I like the article. Especially the part about “it’s probably detoxification”. I don’t agree when people explain “symptoms” to be a detoxification of the raw diet. It doesn’t always make sense. I’m not saying it can’t happen… I’m sure it happens often, but sometimes it’s not that. Yes, I know… everyone is different.

There’s more to life than being 100% raw… it’s being all that the acronym NEW START stands for. (Although, they mention being vegan, not raw vegan. Just remember, these people are one of the top 3 groups of people in the world that produce the most centenarians!)

And about cooked food being toxic. I don’t know much about it… but, if you eat cooked food at times, your raw food diet should help you detox the “toxins that are said to be in cooked food” – right? I think of eating raw as helping us detox from the environment we live in… and if cooked food is “toxic”, then that would fall into the category as all the other toxins around us. But, of course, you at least have the choice of eating the cooked food.

Does anyone know anything about fruits being cleansing and vegetables being healing foods? I want to find scientific-type books about that. I had met someone that mentioned this before… and had a biblical basis for that and being raw. And another a friend who worked for the CDC also said the same thing about cleansing/healing foods. So, I want to find this info.

Something else to think about. Why do we have to germinate? I mean, I know why… but, nuts/grains/seeds still have to go through this process to be digestable for us. Dare I call that “processed nuts/grains/seeds”? Why aren’t they better for us straight out of the nut? (Actually, I know mostly why… just wondering what you all think)

I’m not complaining… I germinate often and at times for up to 24-48 hours to maximize the nutrients…. I just wanted to say some things on my mind.

I’m going to hear Victoria Boutenko talk in Pennsylvania at the end of this month… I look forward to learning what she has to say. Maybe even answer some of my questions or change my way of thinking. :o)

    Hi

It’s because when the nuts germinate starch turns to simple sugar – that helps us digest them. (and of course the soaking activates the enzymes, which ‘partly-digests’ the nut for us, thereby placing less of a burden on our own digestive system’s enzymes). I also read on another forum that squirrels leave nuts around until they’re wet…or something like that! I think if we have just a couple of nuts, we’d probably be fine, but if we want to eat them in ‘rawcuisine’ quantities we’re best off soaking them.

I think it’s pretty ironic he criticizes idealistic raw foodists that suggest the “perfect” diet or ideal, and yet he’s selling an e-book explaining what the perfect solution is.

  • debbietook: I think you took some of his statements out of context. He thinks, of course, that raw food is superior to cooked food. But he thinks it is unreasonable for raw foodists to live by the mantra that anything raw is better than anything cooked because it can lead a person to believe that they can live off of nothing but raw chocolate cake and still be healthy. He is not advocating that you cook your broccoli. I suppose that he could have made his point using a clearer argument. Morning_theft: I agree with you there. Most people who claim to be breaking the rules are just creating new ones.
