Well I guess I need to know how others deal with the problems. This is what my mother and grandmother both have died from. I have Asthma and the beginnings of Emphysema and so far I think my heart is ok.

The problem is I am allergic to all chemicals. I use steam to clean my house; I use baking soda for my hair and body and use vinegar as a deodorant. I switched to seventh generations for laundry and dishes (still get problems tho)

I get sick just by being in the room with people who use soaps, deodorants, shampoos, and perfume (which is everyone I know). Being in rooms that have been cleaned with chemicals. I have asked the HR lady at work if everyone could please not use perfume at work. She sent out an email and they all complied at first and then they started wearing it again and come straight to my desk to fix their problems.

The weather hurts every time it changes, rain being the worst and my lungs knows it is coming one to sometimes two days before it gets here.

I am allergic to animals and some flowers.

I know that when I am eating mostly raw and some days I have been 98% give or take a few. There is always something dead like agave or something like that. I fair much better but I do fall and eat sad still.

The medicine can turn on me as well if I use it too much.

I have found some naturally remedies that have worked in the past that just don’t cut it anymore. It is like there is a being inside of me that is hell bent on taking me out and comes up with a way to counteract my every move.

In 2006 we moved into a new apartment complex, it was beautiful but turned out to be very deadly. I found out that they use extremely harsh chemicals when someone moves out. And they had done the same to mine before we moved in. I spent a year there before we finally figured it out that the apartment was killing me and now it is a struggle to stay ahead of the game.

    Does any of that help??

Oh my goodness!!! God bless YOU my sweet friend!!!

As far as the laundry… I use baking soda to wash and vinegar in the rinse… Maybe that will give you a little help there… I use NO chemical in my home…

How about a sign on your desk… “If you are wearing perfume etc, please send your problems to me in writing”...

Well we know you can’t change the weather, but Chris Carlton explained to me that in 2 yrs all of our cells have been completely changed out into new ones… So continue eating raw then your body doesn’t have to work any harder on unnecessary toxins…

Wear a mask if you have to be around animals and flowers, or just AVOID them all together… Which is sooooo difficult… My son was allergic to evey plant pollen, and food as a baby, when he became small child I started giving him 1 tablespoon of local raw honey twice a day… His allergy to pollen dissolved… He outgrew his food allergies after introduciing each food one at a time for a full week before adding another…

If the medicine you speak of is, an oral inhaler then I would use it as seldom as possible without causing you distress… This way your body can reduce it’s dependance on it, so you can eventually wean yourself off under medical suppervision, of course…

Since you have made it a yr in your apt, don’t move unless you can build your own chemical free and green home… In othere words continue the good habits of keeping your environment in the best condition for YOUR best health…

Huge warm and healing Hugs to YOU!!!

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

I have already moved. About the laundry, how much of each do you use? this is great stuff to try. I am leaving my job soon and I do not wish to hurt anyones feelings or make them feel bad. (some of the stuff just plain stinks) I do wear a mask when I clean dust is also a problem as far as drugs I use an oral inhaler and a oral steriod.

And i have to admit i have been eating sad when in Arkansas, so many people around and it was just easier. then when i have a little it is just like herion i just want more and then i am punished for it.

    it is my own fault

  • waterbaby12347waterbaby12347 Raw Newbie

I pour it in just like I used to do with laundry detergent and fabric softner… Maybe 1/2 or a little more of the baking soda… Fill up the rinse dispencer to the level of my load…

I know what you mean by the “stinking” problem, sometimes I turn and look at people wanting to say, “Do you have any idea how badly you smell”??? But I bite my tongue and remember, I am super sinsitive… Therefore it is my problem, not theirs… smile

Again I stress, to reduce your meds as much as possible… Continued steriod use is devistating all by itself…

Ok 9000 lashes for the Arkansas eating!!! LOL

Remember, no one but YOU can help YOU!!!

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

    thanks for the lashes!LOL

My Aunt told me about how she and my dad loved to eat sweet potatoes raw. and i never told her i was going raw!! she just said it. it was a WOW moment she is in her 80’s or high 70’s and is in pretty good shape health wise.

I remember her telling me she did not use deorderants when i was a kid she said it causes cancer.

    she is a wise cracker!!!

  • waterbaby12347waterbaby12347 Raw Newbie

    Very wise indeed!!!

Can’t help but wondering what else was going on with those sweet potatoes… LOL I too eat raw sweet potatoes but don’t recall any WOW moments… LOL

My WOW moments are every morning awakening with a refreshed smile on my face, so happy to begin another beautiful day!!!

I was told I had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that had progressed to emphysema… I can tell you after one yr raw, I have very minor symptoms if any… I will know more if I come down with a cold or the flu this winter… The CHF, Hyperlipidemia, elevated B/P, anemia and DM have all been eliminated from my body…

I just know if you stick to your guns, you will also succeed!!! YOU too are a wise cracker, just not an old one… LOL

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

WOW congrats on your sucess!! I will give your suggestions a try and see how i do. Do you have any problems with stubborn stains on clothes?

I have bought some food grade peroxide and am a little hesitant of drinking it the directions sound easy enough. I can get past the taste I have rinse my mouth out with it before. after doing the master cleanse and liver cleanse. I can just about choke down alot of nasty things it is means health.

Do lima beans taste better raw? that is one vegie I have not been able to try again.

Thanks so much for your help you are a very WONDERFUL person.

  • waterbaby12347waterbaby12347 Raw Newbie

Thank you Blue_Eyes for the compliment, so kind of YOU!!!

No problems with stubborn stains so far… I did manage to get a pokeberry stain on my kaikai jean while mowing the other day… Just knew the stain would be there forever, but it was gone after just throwing them in with the load… Much to my surprise there was NO evidence of the berry juice…

Why do you want to drink HYDROGEN PEROXIDE??? I would never do that… It is the best blood stain remover on the market!!! It eats protein, our tissues are protein… Help me to understand why you would want to drink it… You can use it on your stained clothing as a pre-soak.. smile

Lima beans are not a dark green leafy veg so I don’t bother to think about them… I didn’t eat them when I was SAD because of the high sugar content… I just don’t see a “real” need to eat them now…

I try to eat as many colors as possible daily, but always include dark red, dark green and orange in all my meals along with something black or purple…

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

I have read on sites I no longer remember that it would add Oxygen to the body and help in cell repair

  • waterbaby12347waterbaby12347 Raw Newbie

No, those site must have been wrong…

In the hospital, we cleaned open wounds and or sores with it… But the most import part was to rinse off the H2O2 with saline… As the hydrogen peroxide killed the germs, it also killed the tissue, the saline promoted new cell growth or healing…

Please don’t drink it… You need not ingest any man made crap… JMHO LOL crap that is…

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

ok I will not drink it. what do you do when you get or when you did get a very bad attack and cant breathe without reaching for the steriod? This weather from IKE is driving me crazy

  • beanybeeganbeanybeegan Raw Newbie

When my DH and I slept in the same bedroom, I would wake up hardly able to breath. It flet like my lungs collapsed.I would purposly calm myself down, slowly take as much air in as my lungs would allow. Which wasn’t much, but slowly I would be able to breath. Dont know if this will help. My granddaughter has had Asthma since a child. When she and her DH move to down town Seattle, no attacks! Go figure. Maybe you need to move. lol

  • waterbaby12347waterbaby12347 Raw Newbie

I possibly never had a “bad attack” like the ones you have… But when I was having difficulty breathing I would use my inhaler trying to stretch the times between uses… Each new day I would try to go as long as I could without using it that “first time” and then only when desperate… After a few weeks, I found I needed to use it less and less… Months later I had stopped carring it with me… Now it has been over 3 yrs since I last “used”... LOL (unusual choice of words)

IKE should be gone, how has he made your life worse???

Beany makes a great suggestion to force more and more air deep into your lower lobes and even holding it as long as possible before exhaling… Doing this as a regular exercise 2-4 times daily would also be good…

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

Right now I am using the steriod twice a day and the inhaler like every hour. for the past three days I cant walk across the room and breathe at the same time. I am never breathing freely. not when it rains. I was doing pretty good before IKe. I used my inhaler only about twice a day with no steriods. before raw i was going thru one steriod inhaler and 2 regular inhalers a month. and still could never breathe and do anything. I was stuck in a chair if i wanted to breathe. Maybe when I get my body back to raw for a few days it will be better. right now my lungs are on fire

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

Ike may be gone but it is still raining last night and the fog is so thick outside this morning i cant see past the house across the street. Moving would be great but I am going to be going on the road with my husband maybe that will help sometimes. it has been very rainy this year we have a surplus of 12 inches already for the year. I have done pretty good thru most of it until now. Fall is a real killer in itself.

  • ZoeZoe Raw Newbie

If you have the chance, maybe try the therapy Rebirthing Breathwork. It really helps with breathing issues. If you’re interested, you could email my husband Chris Carlton at purelyraw@yahoo.com he will help you find someone good.

  • beanybeeganbeanybeegan Raw Newbie

Stupid question. Do you own a cat? If so, doesn’t the cat bother you? The reason I ask is that I have a house dog and I use a “Pionair” air treatment system. No breathing problems if I keep it on.

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

I do have my daughters cat they moved in with me about a month ago. but i was doing fine until the rains came. I am allergic to cats so I cannot pet them. but as long as I am not the one cleaning the house when they live here they do not effect me much. I had one of my own but she died she was very sick and I tried to get her raw but she was to far gone and I should not have given her chicken I guess she was happy with the hamburger.

I started to get the bad when I worked in a kitchen and we cleaned everything with comet and cameo cleaner. then I left that job to be a secretary and was getting better (all along I had a cat) then we moved into the apartment and that almost killed me. Then my mother in law moved in with some kind of oil all over her clothes and I did not recover from that for about a year and think that may have caused some more scarring. Since we moved and I started seeing a holistic practitioner I have improved alot and since trying to go raw i have improved greatly. but I cannot get past the weather. and always reach for the steriods because i panic and do not no what else to do. the things the holistic lady has me do worked for a while but doesnt always work. i have been all raw today so maybe it will even out and i can quit the steriods again. I also have two air purifiers

btw the cat I use is not mine. My pictures were to big and would not work with the site. so it is a borrowed cat from the internet.

  • beanybeeganbeanybeegan Raw Newbie

Not pushing the subject but the Pionair but it purifies and kills mold and fungus buy the light in it. It is large enough for 1200sq. ft. It will kill mold, dog smell, keep the dust and dander down literally. The light emits particles that cling onto the dust etc and deposits it on surfaces to be vacuumed or cleaned. After a short period of time this becomes minimal. Tho when you said rain, I was thinking mold or fungus. That is a problem where we live. It has even gotten in the trunk of our car.

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

I have not tried the laundry yet I want to use up what I have so if the baking soda works I will not feel guilty about wasting anything. But I have used it in the dishwasher and put ACV in the rinse agent spot and so far great! There have only been some flatware and one pan I used to cook something for my husband when he was home that did not come clean and I had to hand wash.

I like the idea of no chemical residue on my dishes when I pull them out. And it makes since to me that my dishwasher may not have the problems I have had in the past should keep it cleaner and drains clearer than usual.

I used to use the downy ball before I found out that downy makes me sick, If I got a new one and put the ACV in there at the beginning of the load would that work?

Had struggling again as the temperatures keep going up by day and drop by night. Fall is so beautiful but such a pain. And to think this used to be my favorite time of the year.

as far as the peroxide goes the bottle says for Oxygen therapy

    Directions:

1st week: 1/4 tsp in 32 oz distilled water, drink 4oz every hour

2nd week: 1/2 tsp in 32 oz distilled water, drink 4oz every hour

3rd week: 3/4 tsp in 32 oz distilled water, drink 4oz every hour

4th week: 1 tsp in 32 oz distilled water, drink 4oz every hour

5th week: 1 1/4 tsp in 32 oz distilled water, drink 4oz every hour

6th week: 1 1/2 tsp in 32 oz distilled water, drink 4oz every hour

    1 tsp thereafter

May subtitute the 4 oz every hour for 8 Oz four times a day.

it is O-W & Company H2O2 Hydrogen Peroxide Food Grade, 12%

The ladies at the health food store recommended it and one said she had personally used it herself.

  • I have allergy induced asthma. Almost 2 years ago I had a fire extinguisher sprayed in my face and I could not breathe well from that time on. Prior to that I was healthy. I was on steroids to breathe for almost a month and then over the next month I slowly started to get better. But I still could not read to my kids without getting winded. I went to a Pulmonary doctor and he said my lungs had been burned and it would take a little while to heal. I was 32 and he expected me to have a full recovery. I only got better to a point and was still on modified duty at work. About 3 months after the fire extinguisher incident I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and then about 5 months after I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis and asthma. I was put on Advair twice a day and an inhaler. I took Clarinex daily also. Then I was started on allergy shots because I am severly allergic to almost everything. The allergy shots were so draining and my allergist told me to use my inhaler more. I was completely winded going up a flight of stairs. A few months ago I moved a switched doctors. I had to get an allergy test again so had a break with the shots. My weight had gone up too far and I finally started to exercise and diet. I stopped using the inhaler because I never really felt better after using it. I no longer had to go up and down stairs because of our move. My endurance improved. I stopped taking my Advair during my allergy testing (I forgot since I had to stop taking other meds) and noticed I felt the same. I did not feel good but no worse. I told my doctor that I was not going to take the Advair anymore. He said to keep my inhaler close. I started raw around this time and started to do the ‘Core Rhythms’ dance DVD. I was motivated by the dancing and almost did not notice how much I was working. It is mostly low impact and I modidified the routine as needed. I was able to work up to 30 minutes. I still am at about 380 for the exhale test but feel much better. I don’t plan to continue with allergy shots and hope that going raw can help me with my allergies. I am still taking Zyrtec but hope to go off of my meds in time.

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

wow, I am so sorry that happened to you. That is so awful. Are you taking anything besides Zyrtec now? I was on that for a few years. I am glad you can exercise now.

I was diagnosed with asthma in ‘84 I had pneumonia 3 times (I guess I was never over it) when I was pregnant. but after that I took an inhaler and soon the pneumonia was gone I only used the inhaler rarely like if I got caught in the snow and had to walk somewhere or mow the grass or stuff like that. Then I got a job in a cafeteria and we used powdered cleansers and then I got really bad and went from doctor to doctor finally the one I have now got me turned around and I changed jobs. then all was fine pretty much still on drugs but could do what I wanted. then in 2006 we moved into an apartment in chemical hell and here I am suffering again. I do not to bad when I am mostly raw. but I am not that good at being consistent. They never said anything about allergy shots yet. they just shoot me up with steroids when i get bad.

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

Awful is really an understatment, sorry that is really a nightmare.

  • I am also taking Elavil and Cymbalta for the Fibromyalgia, and Plaquinel for the RA in addition to the Zyrtec. My hope is to get by allergies back to where they were 10 years ago. I was tested at that time and was allergic to a lot of things but no recommendations were made. I occassionally took OTC stuff for sneezing around my friend’s cat but often just dealt with it because alcohol and allergy meds do not mix. I was no athlete but was an Occupational Therapist. My allergies have always changed as I have moved. My husband is also allergic to dust and mold and we have suffered in some apartments and then been better in others. Our new place is clean but I am just adjusting to the different trees out here. My allergist insisted that there are different allergens in this area so really pushed for the allergy shots. I feel better now than 6 months ago and really don’t want to do the shots. I am sure that being 100% raw would heal me of all these issues but I feel tied to my Rheumatologist who wants to add more and more meds since I am not pain free. I am going to look into my insurance to see if Chiropractors are covered but worry that my long term disability insurance will not consider a Chiropractor a doctor.

  • i’ve been doing some H2O2 research today, and i found this website: http://educate-yourself.org/cancer/benefitsofhy… i’m not sure how reliable the information on it is, but if it’s true, it’s awfully interesting. it makes sense to me, but i don’t follow the science of it very well. hope this helps someone!

    UPDATE

I have been doing GREAT!! I have quit my job back in Oct and went on the road with my husband the truck driver. We have been eating mostly raw, having a small refrigerator one small electric cooler and some bins for non refrigerated stuff. We still eat SAD sometimes tho we have been on a chilli kick

we have an inverter so I have two places to plug in my blender and food processor. I clean with baking soda and ACV and bottled water. So much easier than I was thinking it would be.

We have green smoothies everyday and always lots of fruit to eat going down the road. We try to get something new we have never tried before each time we do grocery shopping. The bad thing is we don't get to have very much organic food. We mostly shop at Wal mart because they will let the truck park there and they are every where but sometimes we have been able to stop at better stores and then I get as much as I can when we stop at home.

So far no more steroids or allergy pills and use my inhaler only once a day unless I have to get out in the cold weather too much. Still do my salt because it seems to really help with attacks.

My husband thinks that just quiting my job and being away from all the chemicals and high stress have helped a lot. My husband has also been eating raw and bathing with the baking soda and ACV. So I am not bombarded with soap on him. He has never really had many health problems but I have noticed the brown spots on his face are going away!!

Question tho, we stop at truck stops and rest areas where I have to wash my hands with soap. any ideas with what to do with this????

also ever try opening a coconut going down the road??? is there anything out there I can use to hold the coconut besides my hand while I am hacking away at it?? so afraid I will hack my hand off!

My daughter decided she wanted to do the peroxide thing so she took my bottle. She has been feeling very fatigued and nothing she tries helps and she is just exhausted all the time. She has been doing it for a few weeks now and is feeling much better.

  • BluedolfinBluedolfin Raw Newbie

    Blue_Eyes~

That sounds so wonderful!!! touring/working with hubby and the health improvements.

I did a quick web search on "coconut opener" and found this: http://www.cocotap.com/. They also have a coconut splitter (http://www.cocosplit.com/). I've never used either so my only comment is that they look like they would work in maintaining fingers attached to hand (as originally designed) while opening a coconut. I remember reading a thread some time ago that had some suggestions for coconut opening tools and I'm not sure if these were suggested there. I remember seeing a tool that was pretty ingenious though.

Keep on truck'n. :) *beep* *beep*

PS. Here's a great demo on opening a young coconut with a knife...

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

Thanks Bluedolfin. I do it the same way only I have been hacking it all the way around I will try his way next time and see if I can do it.

Less hacking the less chance of amputation!!

  • Hi Blue eyes, I didnt read the whole thread so I might be repeating some ppl.

Try using thyme, it is excellent for asthma and respiratory problems.

My asthmatic friend swears by it and it makes your breathing easy.

Another thing, there is a breathing technique developed by a russian doctor which is taught on athma clinics now, you probably have heard about it.

Im sorry but I forget the name of the technique and the scientist, its shallow breathing versus deep breathing which enhances your lungs capacity to take in oxygen.

AS for your allergy, you/your body is hypers sensitiv and you could look into affirmations.

But, I guess you already have. I'm also sorry that you have this, making it difficult to move about in our world full of gasses and smells of all kinds.

  • Blue_EyesBlue_Eyes Raw Master

How did she use the thyme? That is one of my favorite spices, have not used it much since eating less SAD
