Avocado

Help!

I have tried a few recipes (sweet ones) with avocado. Somehow I still taste a really present avocado-taste. I am a chocolate addict and would like to make a very tasty chocolate mousse without the avocado taste. I cannot use coconut meat, because where I live there are no coconuts available. Otherwise that would be an option.

Any suggestions?

  • I make a lovely chocolate pudding with 1 avocado, about 15g of cacao powder, approx 2 tbsp of agave and about 60ml water… (or something like that!)

Adjust to your taste but with this mix I honestly can’t taste the avocado and its very very yummy! You can also add goji berries/raisins/etc into it after and if you add a little more water it’s a great dipping sauce for fruit :-)

    Hope that helps!

  • Also done something similar but instead of using the cacao powder I use the juice of a lemon and get lemon pudding! :-)

I thought I made one that comes out of Raw Food, Real World with soaked cashews, cacao and coconut water. Let me dig this one up. We just made it last week and I know I didn’t have any coconut. Alas, sorry…the recipe is; 2C coconut meat-I used Sunfood Nutrition’s dehydrated coconut 3/4 c coconut water—i used almond milk 1/2 c Maple syrup—i used 3 dates 1/s c agave nectar 1/2 c cocoa powder 2T vanilla 1/4 t sea salt Update: I’ve consulted everything I’ve got—about 8 Raw books and all the chocolate mousses use avo. or coconut meat. So here’s what i would do: Either make it anyway using dehydrated raw coconut or try this. i will also and we’ll see what we come up with. 1.5 C macadamia nuts, soaked overnight (can sub raw cashews) 1/2 C nut milk 1/4 c agave or 2-3 dates 1/3 -1/2C cacao powder-depending on how dark you like it 1t vanilla (if you use it) Whip, whip, whip in the vitamix. if it’s still too thick, add more nut milk.

I’ve got it!!!! Even the cooked husband loved it. i’ll post it in recipes, but for Diana, here it is: 1c raw cashews, soaked 4 hrs or more 3 pitted dates, saked 2+ hours—not too long or they lose their sweetness 1T agave 2t. vanilla 2T raw cacao powder (i might use more next time) 2 clementines (You need about 1/2 C liquid)-I imagine a water/rasberry mix would be great as well or for more of a milky mousse, try raw almond milk

Put it all in the Vita-mix and whip! Finally, The photo is up on the recipes—Avocado and Coconut-Free Chocolate Mousse Heaven.

Ya I feel the same way about avo. it doesn’t work for me in deserts!

The other day I made Julianos whipped creme and added cocoa to it. It is 1 1/2cups soaked walnuts, 1/3 cup fresh squeezed orange juice 3 or 4 tbsp cocoa powder, 3 or 4 tbsp. agave, or more if you want it sweeter. Put this all into a powerful blender and blend untill creamy. It is more of a pudding rather than a mousse. I love it with banana sliced on top, or stawberries! YUM!

ps. All ingredients are raw of course!!!

  • Wow, thank you all so much for your great suggestions! I am ‘raw’ (this sounds a bit freaky) now for a month and find it sometimes a bit difficult to make good alternatives for the cooked food that I loved. So this is really a great help! I am so happy, I am definately going to make all the suggestions. Once again thank you very much for responding/supporting!

    Warmly, Diana
