Bad raw food in grocery stores

I can’t believe some of the raw food that grocery stores put out. It’s limp, discolored, half-rotting, and they want to CHARGE me for it?? At least my Whole Food’s store seems to have standards; I got an avocado today at your average grocery store because I had a sudden craving and Whole Foods was closed, and it was soooo alien-looking, had a mottled, unhappy looking shell with red blotches, and half of it was solid like a STONE and the other half was soggy and mushy. I could hardly eat it. Does anyone know what would cause this strange effect? It looked like it didn’t ripen properly or something, which makes me suspect that it was exposed to some weird chemicals or whatnot.

And some of the kale at this place is absolutlely yellow, and it just boggles my mind…

Yuck. I guess I’ll pay extra just to get food that’s not rotten.
