Blender help!

Can anyone recommend a blender (besides the infamous Vitamix that costs an arm and a leg) that is effective for green smoothie making? Much appreciated!

  • Any blender with 4 blades that does ice will work. Mine cost 65 from wal mart. I have to run it a little longer than I would if I had a vitamix but I can't afford one of those either.

    Take care

    God bless

My Oster blender works flippin' awesome. Cost me around $60 or so bucks and I can use it for everything! I use it as my food processor as well so it's like two tools in one. I have used a vita-mix in my professional endeavors but honestly think they are INCREDIBLY over rated! I would purchase one ONLY in a professional setting that calls for on going use all day. I think people put to much emphasis on the vita mix honestly. Kitchen-Aid is a GREAT brand as well offering EXCELLENT blenders at 1/2 the cost of a vitamix.

Does anyone feel this way? Like people put way to much emphasis and admiration into VitaMix?

    Cheers!

i have never used a vitamix but my blender is terrible haha i'd love to get a vitamix though!!! it would be nice to never have to replace my blender again (keeps fingers crossed). i just won't buy one until my blender breaks.

I don't have a VitaMix but after all the raving on this site, seriously considered saving up to get one. Then I went to a raw event where I saw one in action. It was good and obviously very powerful, but I wasn't blown away. They are good for soups and sauces as you can get a slightly smoother texture, but I realised my own blender does a pretty good job cost a fraction of the price.

If money was no object, I would buy one - but other than that, I wouldn't bother.
