Candida and nutritional yeast

Can nutritional yeast cause candida or at the very least make it worse? Given all the skin issues I am having lately I do not want to make things worse.

I heard that nutritional yeast is candida free. It is not the same yeast used in bread. There is debate on whether or not people with candida should eat it. I eat it and I have the candida rashes. It doesn’t make anything better or worse for me.

  • hey Queen Fluff, I have always wondered if I have Candida. WHen I mentioned it to my doctor they scoff and say that everyone thinks they have candida. How do you know is there a test or is it just obvious or what. I know I have tons of skin issues, digestive problems, etc What can you do to get rid of it at home?

  • I had severe Candida a few years ago. I did an herbal colon cleanse and ate a lot of veggies. I also cut out all grains except for buckwheat and no white sugar. It cleared up in about 5 months and I went back to my old bad habits. It seems like the raw diet works perfectly for Candida. I had started having stomach issues again due to my poor eating and once I went raw it seems everything has improved. I guess for severe cases it would be best to stay away from sweeter fruits. Tomatoes are also discouraged. Molds and feremented foods were on the list too.

    Hey ambikalee -

Everyone has yeast in them but it is normally in balance. Candida is the overgrowth of yeast. When the bad yeast bacteria takes over in your body because there is too much of it, than that is when people have problems. This overgrowth that causes problems people think are caused by something else. Most traditional doctors don’t recognize candida.

Yes, there is a simple spit test you can do at home plus questionairres to take:

Basically, what I have found out is that there are many theories on what causes it (in the raw world), some say sweets and some say fats. People have gotten rid of it by avoiding fruits and other sweeteners and saying all raw. Gabriel Cousens has a good chart on what to eat and what not to too – you can start adding some fruits back in thoroughout the course. Some people have gotten rid of it by avoiding fats like nuts and avocadoes and eating tons of fruits (811).

I tried the no fruit route and it was hard! I didn’t get rid of it. I took antifungals too which I think helps more than the cutting out certain food. I had a bad detox while doing it so I know it was working but I couldn’t continue.

I am also going to be doing a 3 month Colonix Colon Cleanse which is supposed to help (at home) but I haven’t started it yet.

i had great success healing myself with a zero calorie fast (5 days) and followed by a brief stint on the yeast & mold elimination diet (less than 2 weeks).

my naturopath/ob-gyn/md said the most important thing was to balance fat and sugar. she said that every time I ate fruit, i should eat a dozen raw almonds along with it. same with starchy foods (which I ate at the time, I was a cooked vegan)

That worked for me for 6 years. When I first became raw, my symptoms came back, and I attributed it to eating too much fruit, without balancing it out with fats. Now I am doing the dozen almonds thing again and its working.

they say that candida feeds on sugar, so it doesn’t seem possible to heal it by eating all fruit or by avoiding fats. one of the symptoms of candida, actually, is craving fruit and sweets all the time.

i know that many people say you need to avoid yeast and mold for the rest of your life, but i did it within a couple of weeks. this time around, since i’ve been raw, it was about one week.

also good to do, add flora—acidophillus and bifidus.

    good luck.
