The Obama-Biden government has a website where you can submit questions and vote on other people's questions. Please go there and get in the conversation about raw food issues. I submitted one about codex. If you search codex, you'll see mine and one other. Please add and vote on food issues so they spike to the top.
I am in the US but I don't have voting rights, so I find this really empowering.
Government should be responsive to the people. But there's another side to that. The people MUST BE VOCAL and hold government accountable. If you have not yet taken advantage of this opportunity, I strongly encourage you to do so.
The change.gov website is organized into 8 categories. There are food issues scattered in several of them. I found at least twelve food issues in the first 100 Energy & Environment entries. They range from GMO concerns, to Vilsack, FDA vs Big Ag, affordable healthy food, Monsanto and Dole monopoly, and local and organic farming.
Even more impressively, 2 of the first 20 entries in the Science & Technology category are food related. This one: "Will you overhaul the FDA so that it once again protects consumers?" And this one: "I'm concerned that America be more conscious of our food supply in terms of organic foods, whole foods, and supporting sustainable farming. What will the Obama administration do to encourage our citizens to grow, buy, and cook these foods?"
I strongly encourage each of you to spend a few minutes and let your voice be heard. Food issues need to be in the top 10 in both of these categories. We all need to be vigilant here. Let's all vote our conscience on these issues. Put the word out on the other web sites you frequent. Email the link and your personal concerns to friends and family.
We can and MUST make a difference.
Redhouse, I did a search for codex both from the link you provided in your post and from the homepage. I got no results. This is both interesting and disturbing.
If you sign in and "search questions" for "codex," several come up. When I searched, 8 questions were found.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Redhouse.
Thanks for pointing out the "Search Questions" option. I had totally missed it, and I had not yet browsed the Health Care category.
Thanks for this info. I put in my votes.
I also did searches on GMO, supplements, raw dairy (I know this site is vegan, but consumers have the right to pick a superior dairy product over corporate greed based pastuerized products), and organic and put in my votes there also.
