Yes it is melted the same way. The oil does not have a strong coconut taste. Artisana makes a product also called coconut butter, it is partially dehydrated blended coconut. I believe you are talking about coconut oil, which is also called coconut butter! Confusing, I know....

Does anyone know if there is anything similar to cocoa butter and coconut butter but with less taste?
I think you'll find that coconut oil has a more neutral flavor than the coconut butter.
