Today is day one of my new raw food diet! Any suggestions on sustaining my energy while detoxing?

Sleep and then sleep some more! It’s the best way to help your body adjust. Drinking lots of water is also helpful, some like green juices/green smoothies. Don’t be discouraged by feeling run-down, it’s normal. Enjoy it, because the beginning can be really exciting and fun.

DRINK WATER!!!! For me that helped sooo much. Also if you just eat tons of greens and watery fruit that helps

all the above – and try to get some protein – your body will miss it at first! I like Hemp Seeds – I keep them in my fridge and when i feel like my body is missing something, i’ll make raw chocolate pudding and sprinkle some hemp seeds into it. Yum! Try to keep prepared foods on hand so that you don’t have an excuse to eat those bad things! That was my biggest saviour!

  • Thanks everyone! I will definetly try these tips. I felt hypoglycemic this morning when I woke up. Ate greens and fruit like suggested and feel much better. I’ll try to keep water and protien at hand too! Thanks again!!! Oh, by the way, I slept for 7-8 hours for the first time in six months. Yea for raw foods!!!!

  • :) Hi.

This week I gave up alcohol, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, grains, carbs, meat, and dairy.

It was actually pretty easy, I let myself eat a lot and allowed myself to be braindead. Friday night I had the worst headqache I have ever had in my life and aches all over. My neck, the backs of my legs, everywhere just hurt especially in the joints. I didn’t really feel all the wonderful health benefits—but this morning I realized I had lost between ten and fifteen pounds. This week.

So hold on girl! One thing that got me through diet soda cravings was filtered water with herbal teabags in it, just steeping in the water without heating. I got a little flavor that was cola-esque, just enough to keep me from climbing the wall.

    :) Good luck

gomindy, good for you! I hope you keep feeling better. I used to get an energy dip in the afternoons, and some fruit or veggie juice does the trick.

Yes – (as stated above) pure Water intake really is a key to flush out impurities.

  • My first day was 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I was quickly on the high energy, great mood, then about the third day, out of no where WHAM!!! I couldn’t move. All I wanted to do was sleep and close my eyes…for some reason my eyes stung so bad! But, just think of all the years of crap you’re ridding your body of in mere days? 3 weeks, and I feel and look better than I have in years. BEST of luck!!!

  • Thanks again for all the tips! They really have helped. I’ve noticed a few positive things already. Like I said before, I’m getting a little more sleep. My brain fog seems to be starting to clear, and I starting to have periods of energy(for the past six months I haven’t really had much energy.) My only problem now is acid reflux. I’ve had a history of it and it seems that the raw food is activating it. Help, are there any suggestions?

hmmm, I had acid reflux really bad before raw and it took about 30 to get rid of it but I haven’t had a flair since then(about a month and a half ago or so). Keep up and the acid will keep down! I think mine healed completely because I can eat things like spicy foods without a flare. I found that at the beginning salt really activated it. So avoid salt if you can until you feel better.

Glad you’re doing well, gomindy! Keep at it.

This blog will give you some helpful tips regarding hydrotherapy – It’s a good way to release toxins.

I second the advice on sleeping. Keep tons of snacks around. I eat fruit every 3 hours, and a couple larger meals.
