Dermatitis

Hi Everyone~ I’ve been about 70% raw for one week and have a doctor appt. coming up in a few days for an annoying and persistent patch of contact dermatitis on the inside of my ankle that I’ve had for months. I have a history of getting these small patches in various places where clothing or a shoe strap creates friction. I’ve never succeeded in healing it on my own and have always defaulted to a prescription cream that heals it immediately. Might this heal on its own with a mostly raw diet? I welcome any feedback on this. Thanks!

Hi LovesPeter~ The reaction and slow healing is an immune system issue. Consider your body is telling you it is not getting what it needs to heal and/or protect itself and steroids which are usually what’s in the cream is not filling the “deficiency”. As you improve your immune system through eating healthy and if included, supplementation, giving your body what it needs, your body will heal and increase its ability to be protected. Be aware though, as you change your food intake to healthy, nutrition filled foods, you may feel like you are getting worst before it gets better. What is happening at that time is that you are detoxing, a good thing! Drink lots of water to help flush out what your body is now starting to see and wanting to eliminate the “garbage” that has built up in your body.

This is the voice of experience… I use to have extreme skin allergies that were progressively getting worst with time (I was growing into them, not out of them). I actually traveled with my own linen and took my own toiletries because there was always a good chance that I would react to the soap used in the linens and wake up in a head-to-toe rash. I had a major detox in my hands (they swelled to twice their normal size and literally dripped a smelly, yellow liquid

  • Hi Bluedolfin :) Thanks so much! Wow,your story is amazing and interesting. I appreciate your support. I feel strange about keeping this appt., as much as I want the itch and discomfort to go away NOW. I have been under a HUGE amount of stress this past year, and I can easily believe that’s a big part of it. The patch I have is, I believe, from my Tevas. I also get little patches behind my ears from wearing my glasses at night. Annoying! I would love for my body to be healed enough to stop reacting like this. I will keep on with my raw food transition and look forward to good results. :) Maybe I should take a B-complex? Right now, I take a multi, a Vit C, and a B-12, as I am vegan.

Hi LovesPeter~ It is my honor… Do what you feel you need to do and be ok with it. If that means going to the doc to get the steroid cream, do it knowing that it is a short term bandade and that you are on a healing/building path for the longterm. I know how insane-making and distracting it is to itch and be uncomfortable. If you choose not to go to the doc, that is ok also. You can look for other alternatives like an oatmeal patch to see if it will dry it up, fresh Aloe applications, etc. You might get suggestions from other people.

If you are not already wearing cotton socks that covers the patch when you wear your Tevas, try that.

B-complex will support you with dealing with the stress. Keep looking for what is missing in your system… For me, it was in another area dealing with cellular integrity. If you would like to know more, email me.
