Detox food question

Hello! I have been a long time lurker, but have recently just joined goneraw!

I have also recently made my switch into raw, after an 8 day MC. I know I should have gone longer since my body was still detoxing, but 8 days felt like a big enough accomplishment at the time. Since then, I have been pretty close to 100%. The question that I have is about detoxing. I know that I might be detoxing "too fast." Part of me feels like I can keep on going and things will work themselves out, but I also have heard people advise others to slow down their detox by eating some cooked foods when they first start out.

The symptom that bothers me most is that I haven't been going to the bathroom as much. I read somewhere that this is a detox symptom. I have also been taking plenty of probiotics since I ended the MC, and made sure to ease my way out of it. I do know that I have plenty of toxins in my liver, and I was taking some livercare capsules before I started the MC. I have not yet resumed taking them, but now I am realizing I should probably start again.

So basically, I am looking for advise on what to do as far as what I am eating.

Thanks in advance!

I'm one to advise going slow; letting your body guide you.

At any rate, this post should bump it to the front page, and you may get more reads that way.

  • Thank you so much pixx!

I also wanted to add one more thing that's a little important..

I am having a difficult time already digesting things like nuts and some vegetables (since the MC). Would steamed vegetables/rice be any easier?

  • Thank you lulushka! I have been eating a lot of fruit, as it seems to be what I want most during the day. And I also seem to be doing better today (probably since I'm at home and have more time to make sure that I'm eating plenty.. or else I get super hungry later on!).

  • Hi sfranky- I went from SAD, like pastas and chips to a strict raw vegan diet. I did experience detox symptoms but they weren't as bad because I haven't done any fasts. I've been replacing a couple meals here and there with green juice and smoothies so that I can get my body ready for my first juice fast. The first 3 months, I experienced detox symptoms such as nausea, chills, and fatigue. I did a colon cleanse and it seemed to help. Have you considered that? I've also heard that yoga exercises helps with digestion, although I've never done it- I usually do cardio and strength training workouts.

Good luck to you- sounds like you're doing great!
