That’s strange – I use these bags often and have had pretty good results. I don’t ever squeeze the air out, although I do bother to tie the end with a twisty tie. My greens don’t usually last too long in the refrigerator, but once in a while I’ll find a half empty bag (that has somehow been missed underneath a pile of other greens) with one to two week old veggies in them – and while they might not be fresh and vibrant, they’re certainly not mushy and gross.
Is your refrigerator cold enough? I know greens will stay better in super cold temperatures (not freezing tho’ – as once they start to thaw they turn to mush.)
I put my wheat sprouts in one and they lasted a long time. I didn’t want to eat them after a few days but kept them in their just for curiousity’s sake and about 2 weeks into it, they still looked great! I know it says make sure there is no moisture in there. I did chopped up lettuce and it really didn’t last long, turned brown just like yours. I will let you know what happens to the other veggies I have in them.
