Where do you get them? Do I have to order online? I have assumed that all nuts in the store are roasted to remove the shells, am I wrong on that?

my grocery store carries raw nuts in bulk. Health food stores also should have them. Now the brand name ones like like Planters and Mauna Lao are often roasted with oil and are heavily salted. Its beyond me why you would add more fat to a nut.

    Where do you get them?

Quite a few of our local grocery stores have raw nuts in their bulk section: Whole Foods, New Seasons, Peoples. I believe even Trader Joe’s has them. I’ve also bought raw pumpkin seeds (and I believe a couple varieties of raw nuts) at Roth’s – there’s one not too far from you in Salem.

The "raw" nuts sold at health food stores have usually been HEATED to remove the shell, but ROASTING is done at a much higher temperature & for a longer time, so the "raw" (not roasted, which is what "raw" means in the nut business) ones haven't had the good fat turned into harmful fat, like the roasted ones have. If you want "truly raw" nuts, you usually have to order them online from specialty raw food websites.

    I LOVE Brazil nuts! :)
