Happy Halloween Everyone! I won!

Happy Halloween to all my online raw friends! Queenfluff’s favorite holiday! :)

Last night my bf and friends went to a Halloween Costume Party at a raw restaurant. The food was very good and they had a cool band.

But best thing is that I won the costume contest! :) WooHoo! I never win anything.

I went as Chewbacca and made the entire costume myself (except the mask and bowcaster). No sewing machine. I also made some of my bf’s Han Solo costume.

I get free full raw dinner for two at the restaurant. My bf and I will probably go next week to cash in on my prize! ;)

Afterwards we went to an another party that wasn’t a Halloween party and at least 50 people wanted their picture taken with me! Boy did I feel popular! Of course, I was warned ahead of time that when you arrive at a party as Chewbacca – everyone wants their pictures taken with you. It was so much fun! :)

Here are a few pictures:

Anyone else celebrating Halloween?? :)

  • That costume is awesome!! I can’t believe you made that.

I wish I lived in a place that had raw restaurants. I live in Topeka, Kansas. No raw places here.

That is freaking awesome!! My roommates and I are having a Halloween-Reformation Day Party at our house. Expecting 50+ peeps throughout the course of the night! Just hoping everybody is out early enough for me to get enough sleep for tomorrow.

I’m going as Gabe (Sylvester Stallone) from Cliffhanger. I’m a rock climber myself so the costume only required me buying some black cargo pants. I wanted to get a black wig too to match the hair but they are too expensive and the costume shop hear doesn’t rent them

I also wanted to make a “bolt gun” like he uses, but can’t get the stuff I need in time :(. Oh well, the party will be fun even without it.

Queenfluff—killer costume. Were you roasting inside of it?

  • queenfluffqueenfluff Raw Newbie

    Thanks all! :)

1sweetpea – Ha ha! Yep I was! Mostly when I had the mask on because it was rubber. It was a bit difficult to breathe and see in it. The fur suit wasn’t that thick but I had foam padding on my top to make me look more “built”.

But yeah I was pretty sweaty when I got home.

I am 5’4” woman who wears a size 4 so I am pretty tiny so I had to make myself look a bit bigger. :)

People were suprised if I took the mask off that their was girl inside of it! People don’t expect Chewie to be a girl! ;)

Queenfluff YOU are just too kewl for words, Great job!!!

I had a date to go dancing with a “new guy” who turned out to be pretty wonderful, YEA!!! Many people showed up in costume and the winner was in full cover up like you were… His was in a devil outfit that was so real looking, it frightened me… The rest were dressed in pretty good outfits, there was a Raggedie Ann and Andy, a female pirate that was in a stunning outfit and the girl was so attractive, I thought all the men were going to have heart attacks… LOL Another girl had on white thigh highs with garders just above the knee, 4” spikes and a skirt so short a lot of her cheeks were exposed, not too sure what she was trying to suggesst… LOL Right!!! One guy was madeup to be The Joker, he also won a prize… Anyway I had a great time and am so glad you did too!!!

    hi waterbaby -

That is great you had a good time with your “new guy” – I would imagine it be hard NOT to have fun on Halloween on a date. :)

We actually went to another party last night at a club – they were giving away cash prizes and I wanted to see if I could win! I didn’t win but I was in the Top 6 costumes out of like 30 singles and groups that entered. Their was 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The 1st place winners were a group of slightly odd Muppets – their costumes were pretty cool but most of the stuff – particularly the heads – were definatley rented. 2nd place was some group that was the “Twilight Zone” (which I had no idea what it was since I don’t watch the Twilight Zone – one person was in a wheelchair??). I can’t remember what 3rd place was now.

There were a few other full-dressed costumes that I thought were better than mine but they didn’t win either – like the Predator and a guy who looked like the Tin Man. One guy was a “squirting” penis – that was hilarious!

You can tell which costumes are rentals/store bought and those that aren’t. Tin Mans costume was handmade you can tell but very nice (my bf said he wasn’t really the Tin Man but some other Tin Man looking character from some movie can’t remember which one). I think that a well-made DIY costume is more impressive than a rental – I mean, anyone can rent something.

Several people came up to me after and told me I should have won which was nice. :) They do the vote by how loud people cheer for you so my guess is that the Muppets had a lot of friends in the audience. It was the first time I had been to that club so no one knew me there so I did pretty well based on the craftsman ship of my costume. It is just nice when people tell you they like your costume.

My picture will probably be up on the club website in few days though since I was one of the “top” costumes.

Did you go in costume, waterbaby?

Queenfluff~ On Wed we were talking on the phone and he asked me out for Fri night… I didn’t realize it was Halloween until Fri afternoon, so it was too late to think about dressing up… I started to do something crazy to my face as I had some spider eyelashes, but I thought about the impression I would have made on a new guy… I didn’t want to scare him off since nothing was mentioned about dressing up… He already had a date for tonight when he asked me out on Wed and unless he is an extremely good actor, we WILL be going out again… (unless tonight’s date is more fun than me…LOL) My point is, if we had already made eye contact, I would have figured out some type of get up… I love to have a good time and be silly, life is too short to be serious every moment, don’t ya think???

I agree that a rented costume is a bit trite and unimaginative!!! Back in the 70’s, my husband at the time, and I went to a Halloween party and he dressed as a woman with a long blonde wig, padded bra, long sleeved ruffled blouse, long skirt and high heels… I wore a mans shirt, tie, blazer, trousers, a hat, gloves and mens shoes… We neither one spoke and no one had any idea who or what we were… They really thought I was a man but were pretty sure my 6’2” tall husband was not a female but they could not figure us out… It was so funny how hard they tried to get us to talk… Later when we revealed ourselves, they were amazed at how we had them all confused… They had come to the conclusion that someone had crashed the party… LOL

QUEENFLUFF Awesome costume! You did a great job on that. Plus, given the weather here, it looks really warm. I love getting dressed up on Halloween.

WATERBABY You had a great date – you will have to tell me more. Woohoo.

  • waterbaby12347waterbaby12347 Raw Newbie

Meditating~ YES!!! WOOHOO!!! Did I say woooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo??? LOL What a pleasure to meet a really fun gentleman!!! Can’t wait to tell you all about the night…Sure hope I hear from him again!!! smile

queenfluff, that costume is so COOL!

I went out as a devil, I did the usual trick or treating except I didn’t eat the candy. For me I like all the scary pumpkins and dressing up and going for a walk more than the candy…if only there was a raw Halloween in my area.

RKC, what do you do with all your candy? I was a party pooper this year. My boyfriend was out of town and I hardly know anyone where we live. I was home watching movies. I don’t give out candy because I feel strongly that junkfood is part of the obesity problem in North America. I don’t want to be a spoil-sport and give out toothbrushes or apples that just get thrown out because parents think there might be razor blades in them or the kids just think the handout is lame, so I just don’t bother. I loved Halloween as a kid and scarfed back all my candy in just a few days after Halloween. I picture other kids doing the very same thing I did. It’s so unhealthy. Back to my original question, though. Did you throw out the candy you collected or give it to someone else?

RKC, you may be on to a cool idea for next year. Do you know of a raw foodie community in your general area? It would be fun to organize a raw Halloween party and have everyone come in costume, plus a raw dish to contribute. I love that idea. I wish I had a community where I live, but I imagine it would be a sad little party of just 3 or 4 people.

Ha, I agree it’s pure junk, so I stuff it all in the freezer in case I find something remotely edible. So, it stays in the freezer and then it pretty much ends up getting thrown out. I never touch the chocolate or dye-laden things as they’re killers, but I will nibble on a bite of a peppermint pattie or something more or less benign like tht. I live in a locked condo building so lucky my mom doesn’t have to give out candy….last year we debated on buying some sort of raw candy to give out but it’s all too expensive and plus handing out homemade is illegal I think. I love the party idea! That would be really awesome. Definitely something to think about :)
