Hello Everyone

SarahJSarahJ Raw Newbie

Hi. I live in a small town in Southern Ontario and am quite new to raw food.

I can’t recall how I first heard of raw foodism but it now seems to be everywhere that I look. As I believe in paying attention to what’s put in front of me, here I am.

I have gone back and forth with a vegetarian lifestyle for about 7 years. I was very intense for the first 2 but then found that I was having trouble with my eyesight. When I mentioned my switch in eating habits to my doctor, he didn’t feel that it was connected however when I introduced meat back into my diet, my eyesight issues went away. I haven’t been able to find documented proof of a connection but I believe there is one.

What that taught me is that it’s very important to make sure that you are receiving the right nutrients for your body. I have made a point of paying attention to the amount of protein I receive and have invested in a vitamin/supplement regime that seems to work for me.

I also struggle with the social aspects of being raw/vegetarian. Everywhere that I turn people want you to eat unhealthy food, drink alcohol, etc….. I have now taken to just politely saying no and asking for something that I would like – seems to work and almost everyone has an apple or something in their fridge.

So I am particularly happy to have found this site with all of the information that you guys are willing to share.

Thanks very much and looking forward to more chatting.

Sarah

  • Hey there Sarah! We are glad to have you. I have been vegetarian for around 3 years and having done research into the raw food diet via books and websites and I think this forum is a great place to chat, get advice and help, and just be around like-minded people. I also have invested in good vitamins etc which I am still taking now I am transitioning to raw as I don’t want to miss out on anything important – I get anemic really easily (scarily so) and want to keep on top of my iron! I know what you mean about being social, it is almost impossible to be raw around non-raw people and you end up eating something you regret. I look forward to hearing more from you and your journey :D
