HELP!! office party!!

I’ve been “nominated” to bring a few appetizers to an office party (about 75 people). I want to impress the nonraw folks but want to keep it as simple as possible. Any suggestions, guys?

I’m assuming you were nominated to bring raw appetizers? I would suggest some seed and nut cheeses with veggies, Maybe a fruit platter with sweet dips. Throw in some flax crackers and some easy spreads maybe. There is an appetizer section on this site, maybe troll for some quick and easy recipes!

Jeesh, this could be a tough crowd, lol.

  • Kevin, you have NO idea of the “toughness” of this crowd! Thanks!!

Make sure it looks AND tastes good. One thing I’ve learned about bringing raw food to events is if it doesn’t look appetizing, nobody’s going to want to try it. :( If you have a dehydrator, maybe you could make some yummy sweet breads with flax, sprouted grains, and fruits like mangoes!! Yum :)

tomato slices with fresh basil, olive oil, and a little salt is always a crowd pleaser. perhaps some salsa and guacamole with an assortment of veggies and crackers (flax and corn) to dip. also, maybe an herb salad?

  • OOO! Thanks for the suggestions! I seem to have failed to mention that this gathering will take place at a nightclub!! Yeah, it’s after office hours.

Ahhh that paints a clearer picture. Definitely things like guac and salsa, and I like the idea of the flatbreads, maybe for some finger type sandwiches.

Please post what you end up making & how it is received! Dates cut in half lengthwise with a little almond butter inside and a raspberry on top is simple and surprisingly yummy! I’ve made it and people are surprised by how good it tastes – my friend made some originally for a raw potluck, and I kept making them through the Christmas holidays :)

  • I’ll let you now how it turns out OR just check CNN for info on the riot!!! :-)

have you noticed that when a work function is held after-hours (esp. at a night club), that people don’t really eat. they might take a nibble here or there of a finger food, but they don’t really chow down like when the function is held at lunchtime in a conference room (ha!). I don’t think you’ll have much to worry about. Good luck!

btw, since it’s at a nightclub, how about chocolate dipped strawberries. they will go down very well and there’s a recipe on this site for them ;-)

  • Ya know! You guys are the GREATEST!!!

Oh, definately a nice fruit pie with a crust made of crushed macademias and dates. Blend mango and banana and put on top and then decorate with seasonal fruit, fresh or dried.

how about mini pizzas? I love a crisp pizza base with marinated mushrooms and pesto on top. Maybe put the bases out separate to the topping so they don’t go soggy and people can build their own.

This cheese http://goneraw.com/recipes/1619-Cheese-with-Spr… Has been tried and tested and everyone loves it especially non raw people, they just can’t believe it is not dairy. It is great with onion bread.

Mini wraps with a dipping sauce would go down well too.

75 people is ALOT!! Good luck!!

  • Stuffed mushroom caps, maybe? Stuffed with a pate of some sort, or pesto?

“mayo” salad? You can make one similar to caddage-carrot salad or tuna salad, that will not appear “strange” (?) to them, so it is suppsed they will try it… Any sweet too will havea good reception (i think…)

  • Ahhh I would make guacamole with bellpepper chips….just slice bellpeppers for dipping. It’s so great! EVERYWHERE I’ve brought this to, everyone LOVES it!!
