Hi :)

Hello! My name is Kelly, I’m 28 years old and living in FL. I’m beginning to learn about raw, and hope to make the jump too 100% raw soon! It shouldn’t be too hard, I assume, I hope… because I already don’t eat meat. I used to be a vegetarian and a vegan for a long time, then fell off the wagon for about 5 years, partly due to pressure from people against my veganism. I recently quit eating meat again, so I know I won’t miss that.

But what I will miss, at least in the beginning: Starbucks quad venti lattes, Diet Amp, Diet Red Bull, BREAD, sourdough pretzels, and pizza. I obviously need a caffeine and carbohydrate detox! haha

I discovered raw with the arrival of a raw vegan cafe near me. They have AMAZING food! Back when I was a vegan it was so hard to come by places that catered to my diet. But now, the lifestyle is becoming more accepted, and raw places are popping up all over the place (I have 3 by me now, and this summer will be the 4th).

I’m adding more raw foods into my diet right now, and I can tell a difference in how I feel. Now, even eating one piece of candy and I’ll feel gross. But I’m trying not to change my diet TOO drastically right now: I’m running a marathon in two weeks :) So I’m holding out until the day after the race to try a 100% “raw challenge”.

Anyway, that’s my intro. Hello again :)

Kelly

Hi Kelly, I noticed you like lattes. Well the hardest thing for me was to quit coffee. I did that in Feb. It took over 2 weeks to recover.

good luck. this forum has been very helpful for me. as have the recipes!

Welcome Kelly!!! It might be easier by making sure you have certain foods each day, instead of trying to deny youself… I know by the time I have made sure I eat something dark green, red and orange… Along with the seeds & nuts for the omega 3’s and protein, the day is over and I have been full all day… Maybe this too will work for you!!! I wish you health & happiness!!!
