Welcome Abucketofstars!! You’ll love this place. It’s the best online raw community…in my humble opinion. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging.
Awesome! I am just in the process of transitioning away from meat and dairy. For the last 2 1/2 years, I have felt best eating all natural meats (cooked) and eating everything else raw. I was also eating raw milk (rarely) and raw goat cheese. I didn’t feel good when I tried to stop eating meat, and the longest I ever went without meat before was about 3 or 4 months. Now I know I am ready to go 100% raw, with no meat or dairy. I just started this about a week and a half ago, and I feel amazing! I have no more desire or inclination to eat meat or dairy; I finally know how to get everything I need from raw food. I am excited to see where this takes me, as I am already starting to feel more energy, need less sleep, and I have finally gotten over my winter sickness. It has been less severe every year since I have been eating better, but switching to all raw seems to have made the biggest difference this time in helping me get well.
I took a long time to finally give up dairy (about 8 months) but after I did, I find I don’t really crave it. The most difficult times are the occasional night my husband wants to have pizza together (non raw) and I order vegetarian without any cheese. Other than that, all good. Meat was no big deal to give up, caffeine was tough and took a long time, dairy was probably the most difficult.
I’m in the process of going Raw and agree that diary is hard to give up, I find myself craving cheese! Milk isn’t so hard as I didn’t have a lot of it before. I have been vegetarian for 3 years and meat for me wasn’t too difficult to give up. I hope to cut out diary totally soon. I can’t resist a good pizza though ;)
For me the most difficult thing is to give up eating natural yoghurt. I always loved it, and eat a lot of it. I haven’t eaten lately, but sometimes I’m craving yoghurt! Other non-raw things I loved are millet and brown rice. I’m quite ok without them, but sometimes I miss them as well.
The Raw For Life DVD has a pizza recipe that is worth the price of the DVD!
