Join me for a Master Cleanse, Friday, the 25th!

RawVoiceRawVoice Raw Newbie

Hi everyone,

I’m starting a master cleanse on Friday, the 25th.I’ve done a master cleanse once before with great success! I’d love to have some company doing it. I find it helpful to check in each day, compare notes and give each other support.

Anyone care to join in??

Awesome, emily and Marysia. Even if we don’t start on the exact same day, we can still check in with each other. Last time I did the cleanse, it was really helpful to me.
Anyone else want to join, we welcome you, too!!!

  • RawVoice: I’ve been thinking about going on the cleanse as well, but I have a few questions before I commit.

I read the MC handbook, and it noted juicing/blending your fruits and veggies, and then straining them through cheesecloth…is this necessary with a juicer? Can you just drink the juiced-juice?

Also, is the salt-water and enemas required as well? Can you just do the MC with the senna tea?

    Thanks

  • shgadwashgadwa Raw Newbie

You can just drink juice from a juicer but, if you do not have a juicer, you can use a blender with some water and then squeeze it through a cheesecloth. You will need some kind of a laxative. It does not have to be salt water. Enemas are great but you could also use Dr. Schulze’s Intestinal formula # 1 as found on www.herbdoc.com. WORKS GREAT!

  • RawVoiceRawVoice Raw Newbie

    Tinkerbelly,
The only times during the cleanse that I “juiced” was juicing lemons for the lemonade and after the cleanse was over I transitioned with orange juice for two days.

A lot of people skip the salt water flush and do Smooth Move tea instead both morning and evening. Enemas are not required.

    Hope you join us!!

  • I’m on the second day now and I’m feeling pretty good! I do have a question though, is it safe to drink the laxative tea in the morning and at night? I feel like I’m gonna throw up when I try to drink the salt water in the mornings, so instead I’ve been drinking the tea twice a day. It’s Yogi Get Regular tea (with senna) and I’ve noticed on the label it says safe to drink once a day for 10 days only. Thanks!

  • Raw Voice:

Sorry…I was looking at the Juice Feast as well and I got a little confused…thats what happend when you ‘overload’ on tons of new information all at once.

    Thanks

Okay, so we’re on for the Master Cleanse starting tomorrow, Friday. I’m looking forward to it because the last time I did it I felt great most of the time and I had tons of energy. I’ve got my grade B maple syrup, lemons and smooth move tea. I think I’ll be skipping the salt water flush in favor of the tea. I’m excited!!

  • Try drinking salt water warm. I know it sounds weird, but it makes a big difference. I don’t think the salt has to be Celtic, it just has to be sea salt. Regular salt has stuff added to it that you should not have, but any sea salt should do. It will not be absorbed by your body anyway. I may be wrong, but I have done 30 days with sea salt from my supermarket and I am back on day 12 again – no problems. Good luck to all starting today. :-)

  • Good to know that it does not have to be Celtic! I have been trying to get it and its so hard! Off the internet, shipping cost is discouraging. I think Im going to start Monday… looking forward to joining you!

  • greeniegreenie Raw Newbie

I can’t join you on the 25th (today) but will be starting my own MC soon.

I’ve done many fasts and MCs before and the salt never worked for me. I did it exactly as prescribed and it never just washed through, my body absorbed the salt and felt very toxic. Just FYI, quite a few people in the raw community believe salt is a poison and the reason the flush works is that your body needs to flush the poison. I agree with them. For me, the lemonade by itself keeps things moving. If it doesn’t I take the Smoothe Move tea. I’ve never needed the SWF or enemas.

  • I just finished the 10 day master cleanse 3 days ago.

i did throw up trying to drink the salt water…wow that was horrible!!! so i drank the laxative tea all the time. Maybe 5 times a day (it says u can drink it up to 10)

I also drank other teas…all herbal caffeine free (not sure if that is ok) but this really helped me just to have a different taste in my mouth again.

I read somewhere that you should fast until the white film is gone from your tongue…anyone else have an opinion about this?

  • RawVoiceRawVoice Raw Newbie

Stacy, I’ve been on the master cleanse once before for 10 days, and I’ve been on 3 day juice fasts aside from being on a very detoxifying raw diet for 7 months straight without any nuts or oils. To tell the truth, the white film on my tongue never completely went away.

  • count me in, count me in !!!!!
I will follow this thread to see what to do, so I follow it exactly right.

Only I am not drinking salt water or doing enemas just yet.. lol
    ;)

and I will be a day or two behind you but I’m right there in this with everyone too.

Welcome, vitamixer1!! I’m so glad you’re on board!!

My first day on the MC has gone well. I’ve had a lot of energy, as usual. I drank 4 quarts of lemonade. I had a Smooth Move tea in the morning and I’m having another cup now. Believe it or not, I have a lot of fun with food preparation when I’m on this cleanse. I had a bunch of left over apples. I didn’t want them to go to waste, so I just made apple sauce out of them and froze it. I had a stick of burdock root. So I sliced it up, and I’m dehydrating it. When it’s done, I’ll grind it and use it as a powder. I’ll feed my husband most of the vegetables in the fridge. He’s not a raw foodist. I even enjoy cooking for him more when I’m on this cleanse. I think I live vicariously through the food I’m preparing. I’m not all that hungry, so I’m not overwhelmed, and I don’t even taste what I’m preparing. I’m a purist. When I do the cleanse, I don’t cheat at all. But I enjoy the smells, the colors and the feel of the food I’m preparing.
I exercised and took a long walk today, so I’m feeling really good about day #1.

  • Hello, I feel like the new kid in school. What’s a Master Clense? I would like to do it and I can start today, because I haven’t eaten yet. But I don’t know what to do.

  • RawVoiceRawVoice Raw Newbie

    Hi culinarydiva,

The Master cleanse is a lenonade diet that one embarks upon for at least 10 days. The lemonade consists of lemon juice, grade b maple syrup and cayenne pepper. There’s a short book all about it, and I’d encourage you to read first. I’ve posted a link to the e-book here:

So today is the start of day #2 for me. Last night I woke up at 1:30 in the morning uncomfortable with cramps. I went to the bathroom and had some very big eliminations. I’m not doing the salt water flush. I’m doing the smooth move tea twice day, so I guess it’s working. I felt much better after going to the bathroom. What I like about this cleanse is I always get into a cleaning/organizing mode. Cleansing on the inside makes me feel like cleaning the outside environment, too. Yesterday, I beautified my bathroom, scrubbed the walls, put up a new shower curtain and tossed out some things I wasn’t using. I also organized my desktop, deleting old files and photographs. I’m feeling slightly hungry today, but it’s not bad at all. I’m sure that’ll go away as soon as I’ve had some lemonade.

  • Thanks RawVoice. I will read the e-book and maybe I will join you all next time.

Day #2 is coming to a end. Is anyone else going to check in?

My day has been good. I went out for a four hour stretch without any lemonade, and I started getting really hungry, but aside from that, I wasn’t hungry all day. My senses are acute, and I feel alert and alive. I’m about to heat up a cup of Smooth Move tea now.

  • RawVoiceRawVoice Raw Newbie

Day #3 Another good day. I am very slightly weak. I slept very long and soundly last night which was a gift.

    Is anyone else out there?

  • deborahanndeborahann Raw Newbie

I’m not doing the MC but I will be juicefeasting starting 2/6 I will probably be experiencing the same things so I follow the thread. I had a very toxic diet the last 3 mo of 07 but have been off junk since 1/1. I still eat alot of nuts though. I am sure I’ll hit some dips but I am really looking forward to those high energy days and for the muscle pain I’ve endured the last couple of months to GO AWAY!. Happy cleansing!

  • RawVoice I so appreciate you posting and I have been checking in to see how everyone is doing! Please don’t feel alone- although I commend you on your independent cleansing! I myself am still waiting for my shippment of celtic salt to arrive—this Thursday im supposed to get it so either Thursday or Friday I start. I guess you will be finishing up on day 7 or so, but I will deffinetly use this thread! Sending my encouragment!

Hey, I just signed on. I am on the MC and am on day 27 of my 30 day goal.

Yes, it’s hard, painful and frustrating at moments, but over all my energy level is high, and I feel great.

Today I even passed a bunch of stones with my morning SWF.

I am looking forward to Friday which will be my fast breaking.

I have been lurking on this board for the fantastic recipes for when I do start eating again and was going to sign up on Friday, but when I saw this thread I thought I should jump on earlier.

Good luck everyone on their MC, it really has helped me turn myself around and pointing in the better direction.

    Peace!

    Isis

  • My husband is thinking about joining me for my MC, but he is concerned that we will be fighting over our one bathroom. He is so convinced of this, that he wants to do his 10 days after I complete mine. But I would enjoy the support of doing it together. Does anyone have any insight as to how bad the morning and evening really is? I mean can we both do this at the same time, with access to one bathroom? THanks!!

  • RawVoiceRawVoice Raw Newbie

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for the support. It’s so nice to hear from you guys.

Marysia, it’s hard to predict how the bathroom thing will go. When I did my first master cleanse, I was doing the swf, and I didn’t have a strong response. I wasn’t running to the bathroom all the time, just once usually, but everyone is different. This time I’m not doing the swf, I’m doing smooth move tea in the morning instead.

Isis, Wow!!27 days. I have lots of questions. Has your energy been high most of the time? Did you have detox symptoms aside from the stones? Was it painful passing the stones? Do you think they were kidney stones? How are you going to break your fast, according to Bouroughs instructions? How much weight have you lost.Sorry to pick your brain!

    Deborahann, thanks for posting!

So this is day #4 for me. I’m a little weaker this time than I was the first time I did the master cleanse. I’ve been resting quite a bit, but I don’t feel bad. I just need a little more sleep than usual. I’ve been sleeping very well which is great. Ironically, I really get into food preparation when I’m on the master cleanse. Today I made a tomatoe basil sauce that I’m dehydrating into a spice mix. I’ve been cooking SAD for my husband, but doing it as healthy as possible. Toward the end of my fast, I’ll make Matt Amsden’s onion bread.

Well… it’s time to go nightie night! I’m glad I’m not alone in this thread. Thanks, everyone.

  • IsisDCIsisDC Raw Newbie

RawVoice- No, my energy level has had it’s ups and downs. There have been a few mini healing crisises. My detox symptoms have ranged from burning eliminations to erratic periods, mood swings, body aches ect…

I think the stones that were passed were gallstones, and it didn’t hurt, it was like any other morning flush elimination. They were more like soft peas.

I don’t think I am going to break the fast with orange juice, I think I am going to do a carrot/celery juice combo for friday, then a salads with sprout and green smoothies for a while after that.

I don’t mind you asking any question at all. I am a big fan of the MC after going through this. It’s probably the best detox/cleanse I have ever done.

  • RawVoiceRawVoice Raw Newbie

Isis, what an exciting cleanse you’ve had. Wow! You got rid of gallstones!! Good for you. Hip hip hurray!

Every cleanse or fast I’ve been on has been different. Last MC cleanse I did, I was supercharged. I was exercising every day. This time, I’m slightly weak. I don’t feel lethargic; I’m just not very energetic. The weather is cloudy and dark, too, which makes me feel like staying indoors. This is day #5. If I stay on it 10 days, then I’m half way through, not including the two days of juicing to prepare for eating again.

  • IsisDCIsisDC Raw Newbie

    On day 29!!!!

One more day for my Master cleanse…one more day…one more day….one more day…one more day…one more day!!!!

    WoooooHoooo!!!!

  • RawVoiceRawVoice Raw Newbie

What an incredible feeling, Isis!! I remember how I felt on day 9 of my first cleanse just having one more day. The anticipation must be tripled for you. You’ve done a great job, and you’ve done tons of good for yourself. Congrats!

I have more energy today than I did yesterday. I feel like I got over a hump. I’d love to go out and take a walk, but it’s cold outside, so I may use my rebounder instead. I laid out in the sun for awhile this morning, and it felt great. I’m so grateful that I have the knowledge and opportunity to take care of myself well.
