Join Us! Raw for 31 Days

We are starting Raw for 31 days on October 1st. Please join us and post how you are doing everyday, and what you ate. I would also love if people post articles, or videos that help them (I know that helps me through the day).

Thanks and hopefully talk to you soon :)

I'm in! I'll totally do this. You know, it actually takes 30 days to make a habit. This will be perfect!

  • So in!

  • I've been trying to go a month 100% so I'll join in too!

  • Count me in--just have to stay away from bread.

  • Yah! I am so glad there is so much excitement, and the timing works out so well for so many.

See you tomorrow for Day 1 or day 21 for fonky

  • the59soundthe59sound Raw Newbie

Go raw! Stay raw! I have faith in all of you. we will do this togetha.

  • I'd love to join in but I have a birthday meal to go to tomorrow which will probably involve bread and cheese, so I'm going to join late (on the third) if that's okay.

  • Im in!!

  • miranimalmiranimal Raw Newbie

Just found this and all I've had today is watermelon, phew. Count me in!

By the way, I just got a dehydrator the other day and all of my recipes are bombing (I was hoping this machine would be my saving grace in allowing for bread and other treats). I haven't liked anything I have made. Any favorites? By the way, I made the onion bread and bacon (both were really disappointing) and now have Ani Phyo burgers and some nori rolls 'cookin' (with my fingers crossed.)

    Good luck everyone!!!

  • ok day 1 here goes nothin!! :] im having lots of fruit at the student dining center lol

  • camiheartsrawcamiheartsraw Raw Newbie

I'm glad I saw this! I fell off the wagon on the honeymoon and tried to get back on this week. Fell off again last night when I didn't have enough fruit to grab after a long day of work and had rice cakes with peanut butter and potato chips. I don't make the soundest decisions when I'm in a calorie deficit :)

    So far today:

Chocolate shake - 1/4 cup raw soaked almonds, heaping tsp raw caocao powder, 2 dates, probiotics, and water

    1 Pear

    3 Plums

Salad with soaked wakame, cabbage, celery, kale and raw saur kraut (yum - I like it as a dressing)

    raw cashews

dinner will probably be juiced carrots plus other veggies (maybe a wrap? I'm getting tired of salads) and desert from Thrive raw restaurant. Might splurge on their coconutty shake. I heart Seattle and the raw options here :) Yummy! We got an ice cream maker so I'm picking up coconuts for the weekend and planning on making dehydrated breads to help with the calorie crunch. I had flax crackers for the honeymoon and let me just say oh my goodness too much fiber (hot). I'm starting to substitute chia seeds and they seem to work better for me.

  • So far today:

    Grapes- 750gr

    Bananas- 1600gr

  • the59soundthe59sound Raw Newbie

I've had 4 pounds of grapes. Gotta do 60 miles on the bike to get a package to my grandmother now. Peace!

    Cantaloupe smoothie... it was divine.

miranimal-try the Awesome Pizza Bread recipe on this site. I love it and have given it to many of my SAD friends who also love it. The onion bread is a little too rich or something, it doesn't appeal to me anymore. This bread relies on tomatoes for it's bulk, so it goes down easier for me. I make crackers using all of my veg pulp, a handful of chia seeds, a handful of pumpkin seeds, ground, and a ilttle salt. This makes a very crisp tasty cracker. Oh yeah, I throw in a handful of buckwheaties too for a bulkier cracker. Have you made them yet, they're easy, versatile and always work!

  • Today:

    -1 pear

-100 gr watercress, 1/2 tomatoe, celery, 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 onion, 1/2 avocado, pinch of himalayan salt and olive oil

    -1 custard apple

    -two slices of fresh coconut

-1 and a half tomatoe, 1/2 avocado, 1/2 onion mixed over courgette slices (1/2 courgette)

    -1 cup of white tea

  • hey everyone,

    I'm definitely in.

I really want to move towards more fruit and less fat but im still in the mentality that i have to have my few supplements every day (stupid I know).

    Today was-

1 mini cantaloupe blended with water

    7 bananas

    2tbsp cacao nibs

    flax see

    bea pollen

    5-6 dates

    Collard wraps for dinner!

  • Hey!

Today I started with lots of lemon water, and for brunch had Strawberries, Peach, Collards, Banana, and water blended.

I prepared a bag of celery, peaches, and lots of fruit for my afternoon. I am going on a mini trip today to pick up a tipi, wish me luck!

P.S. I just wanted to thank everyone for joining this forum. It really helps to know others are doing this along with me. It might sound silly but it means a lot hearing everyone's excitement.

  • TOday I feel like not being very different...

about 12 bananas (almost all frozen, love it) half whole, half in a smoothie (with the spinach below)

Soaked whole oatmeal, about 3 cups

    Spinach

    1 zapote

That's pretty it, going at the gym later, but i feel so tired :( I'll see, anyway, I'm on my day 22nd, I see you are doing well!

But I was wondering, what does a challenge means? I mean, does that means that you will continue raw after the 31 days or you will come back to your normal diet? What's your personal objective? :o)

So far so good, I started yesterday and did well. I still haven't had dinner, but I've been eating pretty well today. However, one of my coworkers made a gluten-free cake for me (because she knows that I can't have gluten) every Thursday we have "Treat Day" in the staff room. She really wanted me to have some and I didn't have the heart to tell her that I eat raw now, so I had a tiny piece (like a really small sliver) to make her happy. I really didn't want to eat it, but it was so nice of her have made me a cake.

  • To Fonky: I really would like to continue to be raw past the 31 days. I am doing this to show myself and my body the effects it can have, so that it will keep me motivated to continue on. Also, Sorry you are tired, good luck with the rest of your day. Day 22 is awesome, congratulations!!!

AVL- fruits and veggies cannot replace humanity. You did a good thing!

My new favorite thing to eat:

2 or 3 bananas sliced up

    a handful of chopped walnuts

    smaller handful of dried coconut

    cinnamon

tiny, tiny squeeze of agave nectar just to get everything to stick together.

    YUM! Its total comfort food!

I had watermelon for breakfast. Last weekend we went apple picking so I have been chomping on those all day and now I am having a revised version of the above salad with 2 bananas, an apple, and a pear. Inferior to just bananas.

daniefon- thanks a ton. 'Rich' is a good word for that bread. My veggie burgers bombed too. I think I am learning that I don't like flax. It sticks to my teeth and feels heavy in my stomach. Even my poop-factory SAD boyfriend was stopped up a bit after eating a slice of the onion bread. I'll try the pizza bread soon!

Breakfast: 2 apples, green smoothie of banana and romaine, grapes, and an orange

    Lunch: Small salad and apple

Dinner: Salad with peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and pickles

Snack 2 apples, two bananas, one orange

I haven't eaten a lot, due to issues out of my control, but usually I eat three times as much food. It wasn't 100%, but I'm not going to beat myself up over having a few olives/pickles.

  • I am in too! I havent done this before, wondering how difficult it will be

  • so farr lara bars i kno they arent reallllyyy raw but transition! and pineapple and apple!! :)

  • AVLAVL Raw Newbie

miranimal - thanks for your support! I don't feel that guilty about it, since it was only a very small piece. But I really couldn't refuse since I'm the only one out of about 40 other teachers that can't eat gluten. So she really did the time to make it just for me. Thank God other people had some too, so I didn't feel obligated to eat a lot of it!

  • Today:

    Grapes-750g

    Bananas-2400g

    Juice of 1 lime

    Wild Cherries-30g

    Cantaloupe- 1200g

    Plantains-300g

    Pumpkin Seeds(dried) 13g

    Total Cals- about 3505.

    Carbs/Pro/Fat Ratio-90/5/5.

Was this site down for a while? I couldn't get on around 5pm ET.

Hope everyone is doing great on their first day. Day 1 was a total success for me. Onto day 2.

I'm in! I was raw for three months until I went on vacation and got hooked on soy lattes AGAIN. I want to stop that so here we go! :)

    Today:

2 cups smoothie (1 peach, 2 bananas, 11 strawberries, stevia, vanilla, spirulina)

    5 cups pineapple

    3/4 of a canteloupe

a quart of smoothie (2 peaches, 4 bananas, 22 strawberries, stevia, vanilla, spirulina)

a tomato, 20 asparagus spears, a celery stick, 1/2 a red bell pepper, 2 radishes, and 8 raw olives

I eat a lot because I swim laps in the morning 3-4 times a week and attend hour long karate session 2-3 times and run around all day! :)

Oh wow! This is so great!! I started the challenge today too and was posting my progress on my blog. I couldn't remember the name of a desert that I had but remembered that I got it from this forum, so I logged on and found that ya'll are doing the challenge! Wooohooo!! I"M IN!!

Oh, by the way, I haven't been very active on this forum ... I usually just sign on when I'm looking for info, so forgive please. Okay here's what I had today!

Breakfast: GRAWnola and Raw Almond Milk

Mid Morning: Orange and 1/2 bottle of alkaline water

Lunch: Green Smoothie (Spinach, banana, strawberries, grapes, 1 TBSP of coconut oil, scoop of Hemp Protein powder)

Afternoon: Orange, 1/4 of a round watermelon, 1/2 bottle of alkaline water

Dinner: House Salad at some tavern we ate at (plus I brought along a Ziplock of sunflower seeds, broccoli flourets, and green olives that I dumped on my salad). Water with LOTS of lemon!! When we got home I had some Almond Brownie Bites, or something like that, and some more water.

As I was sitting there munching on my yummy salad, the server comes by and plops down a platter of fried mushrooms. They smelled SOOOO good! But no worries, I sent them on down the table. Then the guy who is sitting ot my left gets his dinner of cheeseburger (YUCK!) and fries. I *LOVE* fries!! My husband is sitting to my left and his dinner arrives - chicken cordon bleu and seasoned fries! Oh no!! I'm surrounded by french fries. They remind me of the commercial with the pink furry dude, "Hunger". They keep staring at me. BUT I did great! Didn't even have one! Wooohooo!! I'm so proud of myself because fries are really hard for me to resist. Any potato, for that matter, is tough for me to resist - oh, except RAW potatoes. Blech.

Overall it was a great day! We're off to a good start! =)

  • I want to do this too!! I'm still doing research, but I think if I have some people to discuss meal options with I'm down!!! I'll have to join on day 2... day one is almost over!! haha This'll be a cool experiment for me. Now I have to remember to write it all down in my food journal!! ;-)
