The raw food people never really explored the topic of longevity. I'm mighty curious how long you can live on a raw diet. I've researched it on google and found nothing. There's the Hunzas who live to be 120, but they eat grains, cooked vegetables, milk, etc. I have not found a longevity tribe in the world that eats mostly to all raw food. and no one seems to write anything up about it that I can find....but I think a raw diet has huge longevity potential. like 150 years or something.....lol Any thoughts on this?

no idea, man. there are no long running studies of raw foodism like we'd like to have.
for me, if you notice these people and tribes that live long lives, they normally consume the cooked version of 80/10/10, usually with some fish thrown in there, and a very small or little intake of dairy. so, it's pretty clear to me that low fat is the target, wether we make it raw or not, perhaps it's just preference, i just know i feel better eating raw.
I second the hahahhahahhahha...but I'm going to have to throw in a AHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA
aaaaand now the question, I'm pretty sure that unless a speeding bus or murderous psycopath interferes, anyone with a high percentage of raw plant foods in their diet will outlive a SAD eater.
Also lifestyle is important:
- fresh air
- social connections
- stress reducers (mediation, yoga, tai chi, etc)
- etc etc etc
Those people that lived that long we never stuck in a traffic jam for 5 hours!!!!
But I think diet is a big one, and clogging up our systems with fat is BAD.
For the question, not enough studies on a raw food diet are being done, if any.
The reason is that 99.99 % of the population is eating a high cooked diet.
Most people don't even know what a raw food diet is, and to them the idea is absurd and unthinkable.
Don't expect to see one done anytime soon, but maybe a young raw foodist somewhere can start a lifetime project, and publish their findings in the science journal and start a world wide revolution.

This will help pay for the study, and don't forget about government sponsors, and hooking up with the right team of people.
Make sure you do the study correctly and don't do it like the China Study, with conclusions that will make people think you are biased, and therefore put a dent in your reputation and your results.

Any study that results in conclusions which don't sit right with the meat, dairy, wheat, milk, grain, or big pharma industries (did I miss any?) will be suspect. The ones with the big bucks will obviously fight for survival by finding errors in order to maintain the status quo. Basically it is up to the people who choose to think for themselves (RAW thinkers, for example) to spread the word. RAW POWER is the answer.

I think you mean American population, correct? Or the Western population.
Matt Monarch wrote Raw Success to try to address this issue. He observes that raw food pioneers are dying between the ages of 80 and 93 and wonders why they are not living longer. His hypothesis is that the longer we are raw, the more sensitive our bodies become to external influences and there is less room for manoevre with the diet. He advocates being ultra careful with diet (fats), regular colon hydrotheraphy, supplementation, spiritual wellbeing and a good environment (sunshine). The book lacks a rigourous scientific study to make it credible, (I guess would be hard to do anyway) but hats off to Matt for raising the issue. I have found that my body has become super sensitive to the environment the longer I am raw so I have started to eat cooked veg in the winter and also some very occasional fish. This is not what Matt recommends but I feel better with it. However I still don't eat grains.
If you don't drink or smoke or do drugs, then you can live an extra 5-10years right there.
If you exercise you can add a few years.
If you eat a low fat diet you can add a few years.
There is no proof that RAW will make you live longer, just that people doing RAW usually don't smoke, don't drink (or don't drink as much) as general pop, and i would guess exercise more than general pop. So those reasons alone will create some longevity.
The longest healthiest living society are Okinawans, they eat cooked, low meat, low dairy, low fat, low added sugar, diets high in sodium. The are also very spiritual and easy going.
Since this IS an actual study, i would suggest to read both the books available.
There is no reason to be scared of eating cooked rice or cooked asparagus, at least no proof, and the evidence is pointing that it is ok.
Also the Okinawans will use Western Medicine if necessary, along with spiritual, and traditional herbs. So they get the benefits of both worlds, and i think that is smart, if you are going for longevity.
I think a lot of cultures eat a high cooked diet, Mediterranean, Western, Europealn, Chinese (meat and rice and tea is all cooked) , etc. maybe 99.99% is off a little but you get the point.
