new, new, new!

Hello!

I tried going about 50% (or so) raw several months ago, and, although it was challenging, I felt GREAT. I think I'm ready to give this another try, but this time, I'm doing it with some support! I've got a vegan/raw friend who shares recipes, and I was thrilled to find this site. I don't really know what I'm doing, but I start out the day juicing a grapefruit or two, then move along to three or four clementines, and a banana a little later--sometimes with almond butter. For lunch, I like to have more fruit and veggies--celery, carrots, radishes and a hard boiled egg (sorry!). Dinner is usually a giant salad--with sunflower seeds or almonds--and then some sort of protein (usually cooked).

Basically, I'm doing this to feel better. My energy levels have been very low, and I've been having problems with hypoglycemia. Oh, I'm also overweight and I recently found out I have a sensitivity to gluten. I'd like to ease into the raw food lifestyle at a slow pace, eventually getting to 80% raw. I don't have much special equipment, but I do have a pretty decent juicer, a magic bullet and a gas oven with a pilot light. (I'm hoping I can use it as a dehydrator?) Over the next few months, I'd like to invest a small amount of money in a mandolin or a saladaco, but I don't have the funds to purchase a food processor or a dehydrator at this time.

Encouragement welcomed!

Sincerely,

sky
