Really sick today - Detoxing?

I’m new to the site and am on day 8 of being 100% raw. I started my period a few days ago, and I woke up this morning with terribly painful cramps. I’m 42 and haven’t had cramps like these since high school. Like that wasn’t enough I had diarrhea, vomiting, shakes, ridiculous sweating and now a white coated tongue. I was in extreme pain for a couple of hours and finally had to take a couple of Motrin. I hated to take them, because I felt like I was detoxing and my intake of medicines since I was a child is probably the entire reason for most of this. I guess my question is: How do you slow detox a little and remain 100% raw and has anyone else experienced any of this?

  • tell me about it! I have been going through detox since May, I have been exposed to mercury and as a result have got all sorts of skin rushes on various parts of the body. What you are experiencing in my view are definitely detox symptoms, the white tongue is a clear signal. The key during phases like these is to stay away from pharmaceuticals, if pain is too much you can slow down the detox process by adding some cooked healthy food in your diet, I have added a cooked ingredient per day. Best of luck to you!

  • Thanks melaverde for your wisdom. I had two areas of mercury fillings removed in April and have been having issues from that too. I also have a heart murmur and am required to take 4 amoxicillin before they will even see me, and I have been there four times this year. I am going to slow down some, I have a lot to detox from.

you can slow detox by adding cooked food into your diet (such as sweet potato or whole grains)

but you can also just make your raw diet heavier with nuts and fats. coconut oil too.
  • add avocados and raw fats like bitt said.

or steamed foods like melaverde said.

Oh..you poor thing! Any strange taste in the mouth?

  • I do have a metallic taste in my mouth and it feels a little raw. I appreciate all the advice.

  • metallic taste? It can be an indication of mercury intoxication…do you have any mercury fillings left in you mouth?

  • I do have two areas left to do. I’ve decided to let a biological dentist finish them. The white tongue has gone away, but the metal feel remains. What did you mean when you said that you had skin rushes? Did your issues start after having the mercury removed?
