Scar Removal

I have just been involved in a road accident where by a car struck me as i was crossing the street. I am in the cast now, but I know that once it is removed there will be scars on both sides of my ankle.

Any suggestions? I want them to go.

Maintaining a clean, sober body, looking both ways before crossing the street and wearing clothing in public may prevent drivers from “coming too close”!!! Need I say more???

Yes the coconut oil or shea butter is a good idea and so is massaging the area with Vitamin E oil, but if those don’t work you might want to try Neosporin’s Scar Solution:
http://www.neosporin.com/scarsolution/scarsolut… (These are silicone strips that you can cut to fit the scar area)
OK it’s not ‘raw’, but it has worked for many people as you can find out from the following reviews:
    http://www.epinions.com/reviews/Neosporin_Scar_…
They worked for me after surgery and I’ve even had other doctors tell me my incisions healed great (scaring looked negligible). Whatever means you choose to try—I wish you the best of luck with preventing/minimizing any scaring

  • Hi sofichka, ouch! That sucks butt! Up your vitamin c intake, so pound cantaloup, strawberries etc… to increase your healing time. Use vitamin E oil on the scar area AS SOON as it’s possible. Keep the scars out of the sun, or put sunscreen on them as much as possible.

    waterbaby, wearing clothing public???

i hear MSM helps with removing and/or preventing scars.

Yes Elizabethh, I felt the nearly nude, G-string and stockings on the bar with alcoholic drinks at hand and bare nipple showing at bit too much for this site… This is a public site, right? I’m sure she is a nice enough person but her priorities, I felt needed assistance… Since the photo is now in pixel state maybe she took the hint… Also isn’t part of our raw existence to avoid cutting, burning and being good to ourselves and our environment? I tried to not be offensive even though I was offended!!! This is a raw vegan food site, not a slice and dice nudie show…

Yes, start rubbing in MSM lotion right away! Start taking it internally to if you can.

I wouldn’t consider plastic surgery right away. Wounds take time to heal, but after two years the color fades and you can barely see them. I have some gnarly scars I’ve actually grown to love – they’re like conversation pieces!

  • Ha that is amusing we all have a body, I don’t see anything wrong with the picture. What makes you say they are alcoholic?

Enough of that. I am using the silicon gel, then will use the strips to help with the scarring, i got two, one on either side othe ankle. My right foot is so swollen right now it is awful I can’t walk on it or like 8 weeks.

  • I am taking glucosamine and bone viamins in aid of the healing for the bones, then arnica for the bruising and swelling. for the scars all I am doing is using silicon gel and will then start with the strips in a week or two, once the scabs start to come off.

It has been a horrific experience I must say, but everything happens for a reason, I do believe this.

actually not wearing clothes might be a good way to GET noticed!

I’m not sure about other states, but I believe it’s legal for women in NY to go topless in public if they wish.

disclaimer: This is just a little fyi comment… no offense, disrespect, or ‘suggesting’ intended to anyone. :)

My body is covered in scars; my arms, my legs, my chest and my stomach. I went through a traumatic period when I was younger and my scars are very visible. There are thousands of them, some of them quite large.

I would love to find a way to reduce scarring…just being raw, losing weight and toning up seems to help make them seem less visible..but sometimes I really wish I could just make them go away.

**just wanted to make an addendum to my above ‘not raw’ comment on July 3.
Silicon technically is raw since it is one of the Elements listed in the “Periodic Table of the Elements”...
    http://www.webelements.com/silicon/
“Silicon is important in plant and animal life. Diatoms in both fresh and salt water extract silica from the water to use as a component of their cell walls.”

But in the case of the ‘silicone’ scar strips (which admittedly is an artificial substance – a polymer – made from silicon, oxygen and other elements)- they do protect the scar like a layer of skin and allow the body to hydrate the scar & re-start the healing process in that area.

Again – the scar strips (like the Neosporin brand): http://www.neosporin.com/scarsolution/scarsolut… are not raw since they are technically a man made polymer, but they have helped people…

Hmmm if anyone finds the magic let me know. My husband was in the hospital and had huge tubes in and out of him, lots a scars.

I work with a few nontoxic products that provide the body with what it needs to heal itself. If you are interested, email me.

  • One Word:MSM…it will help so much I drink it and use the lotion. I got three pounds of it for 35$. Well…two words:Tocotrenols is a great source of vitamin E and it tastes Great! It is a Superfood I put it in my shakes.

  • I'm also looking to find a way to heal scars................ Anyone have any tips other than MSM? Would putting coconut oil on a scar help?

I think I read somewhere on here that dry brushing is also helpful in diminishing the appearance of scars.
