Slip up...

Hey Everyone.

Just wanted to ask about slip ups and feeling ill after cooked food. So I am in transition, on average maybe 70% raw, so I have been having a few cooked meals. I was doing okay, still feeling better. Anyway, yesterday I had a slip up and ate unhealthy bad food, then this morning while making my smoothie I had an urge to eat something not raw, I just don't know what is wrong with me. Does anybody think a 3 day water fast might be a good idea? Everybody says it cleanses your taste buds and I have time off in which I would be able to rest. I'd just hate to spoil myself after feeling so much better and generally enjoying raw.

Thanks guys :)

First and most importantly, don't beat yourself up about this.

It will def happen again at some point so you have to just learn from it and move on. I used to be so down on myself for eating something bad but I found this v detrimental to my state of mind so now refuse to feel guilty about anything. Put it in perspective - it's not the end of the world. Just keeping trying to do the right thing and you'll be fine. :-)

If you really want to do a water fast then fair enough, but be careful not to make yourself feel deprived as it could just end up with you slipping or binging on bad food, etc.

I would just carry on as you are doing and see how things go. Green smoothies are great for helping with cravings so I'd personally keep up with those.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks guys. I'm not trying to beat myself up as such, I just feel really awful after cooked foods, I don't know. I think that a water fast may help me. Before that I think just getting back onto track and making the right decisions will be a better idea.

Thanks for your comments- really appreciated.

Instead of fasting, maybe you should take an herbal colon cleanser. It just helps get the muck out faster. If I eat something cooked that triggers more cravings for it/it is addictive, I get it out quickly. Not for weird orthorexic reasons, but because it keeps producing more and more slip ups until I'm eating mostly unhealthy again. If it is just regular healthy cooked food (stuff like quinoa or home-steamed veggies), I wouldn't worry about it. The stuff with additives, sugar, gluten(The thing that gets me off track), etc. is what I worry about, because they are drug-like.

    I hope you feel better.
