sprout spoilage

How can you tell when sprouts have gone really bad (while sprouting)? I’ve been experimenting a lot with them recently and am concerned about them spoiling and not noticing.

mine get very noticeably mushy and have an unappetizing smell.

  • What about being slimy? I have chickpeas that feel slimy or is that just from moisture? It’s so warm where I’m living so that’s what I’m worried about spoiling my sprouts.

I think the sliminess has to do with the seed. It is not a good seed. I can’t seem to find the book to give you the refernce. I haven’t sprouted chickpeas, so I do not know if sliminess is ‘normal’ for chickpeas.

I just bought some food grade hydrogen peroxide for my sprouts. I plan to use it on sprouts that are “questionably safe”. I don’t really know much about food grade hydrogen preroxide…
