well supposedly it activates enzymes that lie dormant…but I have my doubts as they never do end up sprouting into anything….and they taste different, better.

...although I’m no expert, that’s my understanding.

If they’re not sprouting, they’re probably not raw (even though they’re labeled “raw”). I’ll say it here again – in the nut business, raw just means not roasted. The ones that are raw in stores are hazelnuts, walnuts & pine nuts. Others you have to order specially online to get them really raw. www.sunfood.com had a pic of a cashew seedling from one of their “truly raw” cashews, and people sprout almonds & other nuts, too. With almonds, make sure it says “unpasteurized.” I’m just guessing, but I wonder if the digestibility of the nuts is increased because of the enzymes that are activated by soaking?

  • from what I read nuts have like a protective layer around them (to protect the enzymes). So by soaking you are clearing that layer and leaving the enzymes more accessible thus making it easier to digest.

  • thanks guys…I have another question…i’m on my second day and I understand why i would be bloated…cause I am…but last night one of my ankles was swollen!!! why would that be?

Detox? IDK just guessing. Did you eat alot of salt or something? That happens to me when I eat too much salty food.

Well what are you eating exactly? ...especially aside from fruits and veggies.

  • i ate some raw corn chips and a raw pizza from our health food store…maybe that was it? I had some nori…and today i ate eggplant pizza…nothing too salty…maybe i should stay away from the fancy stuff…
