Today I eat raw... and then?

Hi! I am 21 yo and have just started eating raw foods.

Here is a brief history: Since 1. April – no meat

Since 1. May – no diary

Since 15. May – no wheat/bread

A few days ago I got interested in raw foodism. I am currently in a transition period trying to cook only for dinner.

This morning I had 500 g grapes for breakfast.

A few minutes ago I prepared the following launch I took from the recipes here: 1/2 cucumber, 3 tomates, 1 avocado, 2 cloves of garlic, lemon juice, cumin, a few leaves of rucola, basil and parsley. All these ingredients I mixed in a bowl and… ate it! Do you know what? It tasted great! I have never experienced such a lovely texture in foods! I could feel every vegetable and an overall exotic-sweet delicious taste in the same time! It felt great! It was the best meal I have had for so many years!

Many thanks for this recipe! Now I feel much better and encouraged to further read about raw foods!

In the future, I will reduce intake to 1/2 avocado, since a whole one is obviously way too nutrient than say 2 tbsp. of olive oil? Can you point me to further recipes that are easy to prepare? This one took me only 10 minutes and I had a lot of fun slicing the vegetables and mixing everything in a bowl!

I would really like to start with something simple. This “salad” featured too much things and it is “professional” to my plain tastes.

Once again, thank you very much, this site, for providing such a great recipe! I really hope that I will find acceptance in this place!

Although I was carnivorous, now I’d really like to change that! Also, I weight only 55 kg with a height of 175 cm. This is considered underweight. I need to quickly gain some kilos if I am going to feel really comfortable! Again, I will appreciate any help you provide me!

Best regards!

the plain taste thing is awesome, the truth is, despite all the super fancy raw meals out there, the golden rule is the closest to simple and whole the better. i would rifle through the recipes on this site (there are plenty) for inspiration. i would also invest in a few good raw food books for the basics. i would recommend: green for life (victoria boutenko), ani phyo’s raw food kitchen, and david wolfe’s “the sunfood diet success system.” sounds like you are already on the right track with the plain fruit breakfast. my biggest bit of advice would to start making green smoothies on a daily basis (read about this in green for life). greens are super super important. basic green smoothie recipe: 1-2 bananas, big handful spinach, water. blend, drink, tastes great!

    best of luck

  • What is a “smoothie”? Do you mean puree of smashed vegetables? This requires a blender. And this is “processing” already. God gave me teeth to use. Otherwise He wouldn’t give me teeth. I am strongly against such “smoothies”.

khalderon – green smoothies are very beneficial to your health. that’s fine if you’d prefer not to eat them, but they are very beneficial. I don’t see how blending is unnatural compared to cooking. Cooking removes enzymes and nutrients – in contrast, blending makes nutrients more bioavailable. they involve blending 60% fruit, and 40% greens of your choice. As a raw foodist, you’ll want to make sure you eat plenty of greens. Be careful what raw cookbook you buy – a whole lot of recipes involve blending. I really recommend considering blending things, as you will be able to make a lot more delicious foods by using a blender.

  • Khalderon, are you 100% raw? If you are you can stop counting calories unless you are messed up with food =P
