Too many avocados?

Hi! I am new to raw foods and sort of stumbling and bumbling happily along the way. I am sorry if this is a repeated topic, but I did search the forum and didn’t see anything that answered my question. My question is: I am eating an avocado a day. Is this okay? I just haven’t been able to find any information on whether this is healthy or unhealthy. I have been eating very basic meals and have not ventured much into all of the delicious recipes, so an avocado is really my number one treat for the day and what I look forward to. Any replies are appreciated. And I do not care about a losing weight. I am happy at the weight that I am so weight loss is not an issue.

Electra, There are many people on this forum with differing views on this topic. For me, I see nothing wrong with having an avo. everyday. Other will say that too much nuts, seeds, oils, and avos are not healthy for you based on the 80-10-10 diet. I say do what feel right for you, especially if you are just transitioning to raw. Your body will tell you if it is not working for you, and you will naturally change your eating if that happens by starting to not want avo’s and craving other things.

I totally agree with spiritedmama. Just dont overdo the any fat or you will begin to feel sluggish and crappy. As a matter of fact, avocados are the best choice if you are craving some fat. They arent as harsh on your stomach like those hard nuts or seeds. Good question Electra :)

One avocado a day is actually pretty conservative by a lot of raw foodists’ measure! I’ve been known to get into 3 or 4 of them in a day if I’ve been doing a lot of strenuous things (long day hikes, martial arts, etc), but when they’re out of season I don’t feel well eating too many of them.

As with everything else, let your intuition be your guide. If you don’t already have it, pick up the Sunfood Diet Success System by David Wolfe, because he’s very keen on “find what works for YOU” and explaining the usual effects of eating different ratios of fats to greens to sweets.
