Veriety??

So, as I said in my last post, we're almost 2 weeks into 100% raw vegan and it's going great. One problem though is that I think we eat entirely too many nuts. But almost all the recipes we've found have been nuts. I was just wondering if there's any kind of way to simplify things and not have a 70% nut diet. Thanks.

You don't have to do complicated recipes to make things seem more like 'normal' food, or to try and replace certain things with a raw variant. You can keep things entirely simple by eating mono meals of fruit, or making simple fruit smoothies. If what you're actually eating is different from the norm there's no need for fancy recipes to mimic the look and presentation of what's normal.

The gourmet recipes tend to use alot of nuts and seeds for them, personally id use them as a main meal sort of thing and as hikuro says spend the rest of the day eating fruits, vegetables etc.

so your not overly using the nut dense foods.

  • What's wrong with making a salad and a great tasting dressing? Vary the vegetables you use by only using 2 or 3 in your salad at a time (mixed greens with cucumber, celery, carrot on Monday, then arugula with sliced mushrooms, walnuts, red pepper, and oranges topped with an orange dressing). Don't feel like making a salad one day, then blend your greens into a soup and eat them that way. One very good book that doesn't use tons of nuts is Jennifer Cornbleet's "Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2".
