Vitamix can make scramble eggs???

I’m thinking about getting a Vitamix to increase the amount of green juice for my kids and myself. I was shocked to learn that you can actually make scrambled eggs and cooked soup just by letting the blender run. I saw the steam coming out of the thing after the process, and I was wondering if anybody has any thoughts about this issue and how this may affect the raw status of the food. I am also worried because my digestive system can’t tolerate food that has been dehydrated (at less than 115). I am looking forward to have the possibility of making smoothies with whole kale leaves; however I don’t want to sacrifice the enzyme content. Any thoughts?

  • I have a Blendtec and you can run it long enough to get things really hot, but that is not necessary at all.

Any of the high-speed blenders can handle your blending job w/o generating much heat if you only run it for a minute or two. The Vitamix has a variable speed knob so you can control the speed. The Blendtec has presets for optimal blending. For example, I use the Whole Juice setting, which first chops the contents and then moves up to a frenzy and lasts for 50 seconds or so. I rarely have anything which would require another cycle. Kale might be the exception. All you have to do is wait a minute or two and run another cycle if you are concerned about heat.

You can also start with water at the exact temp. you want and run one cycle for a warm soup or sauce. Then the temp is very controlled.

I’ve wondered about this as well. I own a much less powerful blender, so heating up ingredients isn’t really an issue, but I’ve made nut butters in my food processor that required a lot of processing and I could feel the heat coming off of the butter when I removed the lid of the processor. I have to wonder whether I overheated the nuts and compromised their enzymes.

Thank you jenoz, that wasn’t really well explained in the Vitamix site. Do you like your Blendec?

Thanks 1sweetpea. I also have a regular blender, but I can’t use it for blending whole green leaves (except for spinash and cilantro). Also the possibility of making my own seed butter is very apealing, but as I said, I would like to make sure that the final product is really raw. Who may know the answer to this question???

  • I’d rank my Blendtec right up there with the hot water heater as one of the best conveniences in my life!

We’ve had it for a year now and there is very rarely a day when it isn’t used. More than half of the days it is used more than once. Green smoothies are just the beginning. The soup and sauce possibilities are devine!

The Blendtec is more powerful than the Vitamix, shorter (I’m sort and my counters are tall, so this makes a difference to me, and the Blendtec fits under the cabinets on the counter and the Vitamix won’t), cheaper, and the presets take the guess work out of blending (or you can manually select speeds)

The prep time for meals in a high speed blender of any kind are so drastically diminished compared to any other blender or food processor. Yikes! I made that fab. Thai Tomato Soup the other day in less than 5 minutes. The only things I chopped were the garlic and ginger. The tomatoes went in whole, the shredded coconut blended perfectly with the warm water, and the cilantro (LOVE cilantro) went in whole – stems and all.

If you want to see the Blendtec in action, go to www.willitblend.com or check out the Will It Blend videos on YouTube. What a scream!

I’m with jenoz. I loved my blendtec so much I gave it to my parents and bought another. I loved it so much I gave the second one to my sister, and upgraded to the 20 amp model. I think of my blender as such a great appliance that I would buy another one tomorrow if I managed to somehow break mine today.

When I last travelled for business, I brought the blender and an electric cooler, and made smoothies in my room rather than eat the included meals that came with my hotel stay.

Anyway, I can blend a smoothie in under a minute with any of the blendtecs. 40 seconds with the 20 amp. They do not get warm.
