weight loss, joint pain

I am an athletic girl, starting eating raw over two months ago and although I feel great, I haven’t lost the extra 10 lbs I was hoping to lose. I am really good about food combining, cardio for exercise, daily green smoothies..what else should I think about to get rid of that excess fat on my body?

Additionally, I experience a lot of joint pain (like can’t fall asleep at night because of the pain): back, neck, knees, hips, ankle, and especially my injured shoulder. Is there anything else I can do as far as diet goes to relax my body’s inflammation and make my life a bit more pain free? Thank you : )

Ginger is a great anti-inflammatory food. I put it (fresh ginger root and sometimes even the powdered ginger) in just about everything – entrees, smoothies, desserts etc…. It works well in many combinations.
It also helps that I happen to LOVE ginger. Hope you do too. But there are other anti-inflammatory foods (I just don’t have the list handy).
Dr. Neal Barnard wrote a book in the mid 90’s called Foods that Fight Pain. It’s really quite good and worth taking a look at…. http://www.amazon.com/Foods-That-Fight-Pain-Rev…
I wish you the best of luck with your health!

  • I have read a number of places about the anti-inflammatory properties of ginger- also I have read that a mixture of equal parts honey and cinnamon can cure just about anything when taken regularly- I read it even can help with weight loss. Also when I was doing pilates twice a week- i got super tone and lost inches around my tummy and thighs. I hope this helps :)

Flax seeds are very anti-inflammatory, and sometimes if you are not getting ENOUGH fat in your diet, the body will think it’s starving and store & hold onto what you do have.
