  • Try a1nutrition.com However, the shipping can be VERY slow and the customer service is not that great. Shipping can take up to 6 weeks. So, order well in advance. Good luck!

  • Hi! Try http://www.almonds-from-california.com/ppcart/ I just bought 10 pound of almonds there for $58 and the shipping was free. They also sell pecans and walnuts and pistachios. What is even better, they are not bound by that new law in California to pasteurize their almonds, so they are truly raw.

Hey Sabriya, do you realize that the almonds you bought are not organic? Also, I have been to their website and went to the faq’s, but for the life of me, I don’t understand on what basis they are not bound by the law.

They sell Organic Raw NonPasteurized Almonds. You have to look under Organic Nuts. If you look at the FAQs “Are your Almonds Pasteurized?”, it explains under there why they are not effected by the law.

  • Yes, the FAQ was a bit unclear about whether the other nuts were raw as well, so I emailed and they said that all of the nuts are raw.But I don’t think the walnuts and pecans are organic, just the almonds.

I did look under that area queen, but the explanation didn’t make sense to me. When I read the federal regulations that the FAQ referenced, I did not see anything that supported their assertion. Maybe I am missing something, but I just don’t get it. I am the operations manager of a large natural foods coop and I need to have assurances before I pass a product to my customers. This just does not compute.

I talked with another supplier who told me today that they will be good with their unpasteurized supply for a year. We need to ask questions and get assurances before we can be comfortable with representing the almonds as really raw. And the lighthearted responses I am getting makes me somewhat suspicious. If it is so easy to get an exemption than why is everyone up in arms? It just can’t be that easy.

There are no exceptions to the almond law currently so it isn’t that this place is getting one – it has do with some other law that way older than the new law. A friend of mine told me that this place was protected by some old 100 year old law – I admit I don’t know the specifics of it. So, I think you might have to email them to find out about it.

  • My almonds came today, and they are really beautiful, and definately raw. But to be sure, I will see how well they sprout

  • I personally recommend LifeSprouts.com. Their products aren’t the cheapest, but their quality is the best! If you can afford to buy in bulk, their products are pretty affordable.

    I didn’t see any nuts on Lifesprouts.com

Winco Foods (Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California & Oregon) - you can buy raw cashew pieces for 3.56 per lb.!  If you're using htem for paleo recipes it won't matter they get pulverized anyway.
