Will i get skinny?

Will going raw make my fat go away so I have a flat stomach and a body like a model? That’s what I was hoping, just want to see if that’s what’s happened to any of you guys.

Happened to me, unfortunately lol…meanwhile there are dozens of people (women mainly) who WISH they lost the weight that I lost when they went raw – so it all depends. I think chances are you lose weight. Just do it though – worse case scenario, you don’t lose weight but are 100x healthier. Best case, you lose the weight and are still 100x healthier. Sounds like a win win.

  • Well… You won’t have a perfect body just by going raw, you also need exercise.. But since I went completely raw I’ve been just loosing weight.. And the good thing is I always loved sweets but felt completely guilty about having them, so I would just have a little dessert once in a while.. But now I know that even the desserts I make are healthy and good for me…

yup…one time someone at my job was talking to me able how healthy I eat for lunch and she said “you must not have a sweet tooth”...actually, i do have one, and I don’t have to feel unhealthy eating a lot of sweets

  • Yeah i do exercize, a lot…but i still have this annoying roll of fat on my belly. Die, flab, die! Any advice for losing more weight? Should I avoid nuts and things like that???

  • We can’t guess what will happen to you. Are you doing cardio?

I have a roll of flab on my belly, too, even though I’m thin otherwise. It’s because I take insulin – in my belly – and it makes fat deposit where it goes in all the time. But it also is because I haven’t been getting exercise. I lost 40 pounds in three months when I started high raw, but I had also done a lot of emotional work just before that.

  • I lost sooo much weight since transitioning from SAD, to vegetarian, to vegan, to 80%, to 100%. I’ve lost 55lbs, in the last 8 months. Some people think I am too skinny, I believe I am beautiful and healthy. I have never felt better.

If you’ve been at it for a while and it’s not working, check out food combining. Not to pick at your menu for the day but it sounds like you combine “not so combineable” foods. Some people don’t believe in food combining, but I do. I can feel the difference when I combine the wrong foods. It makes me bloated, and takes a long time to digest, making my feel less energetic.

  • I agree with TreeOfLife, if you don’t loose weight going 100% RAW then try food combining, I believe it is almost impossible to be overweight and being a Raw foodist that applies food combining rules. I lost all of my body fat (about 30 pounds) and I feel much healthier. Some people say now that I am too skinny but that’s is absolutely not true, your body will become exactly the way is supposed to be. If you add cardio/exercise then it is obviously better.

‘Flat stomach and a body like a model’? Are you serious?

  • bittbitt Raw Newbie

    give it time!

  • All depends. No matter what you get into you’ll find that it will always be apparent that you are what you eat.

You decide how your cells will grow and function. Not to mention we don’t know your anatomy, everyone’s body responds differently. Its all about “experimentation” and seeing what works for you.

  • The power of eating a raw food diet is that it restores your health and shape to what it should be (over time, and given how you approach it). In other words, if someone was overweight, they would most likely shrink down to what their natural body weight should be, and for those underweight, they are usually able to gain weight successfully. This was the situation in my own family. My parents both lost extra weight they needed to and I (who was always unable to gain weight) blossomed and am now at a healthy, steady weight that is perfect for me. Yet we all followed pretty much the same routine and diet. I even exercise more than they do, but they lost the weight, not me! So you see, I think you should stop expecting some ideal result, and embrace whatever mother nature wants for your body and love the changes, whatever they may be. Your health will be so much better despite whether or not you get a flat stomach straight away. Focus on loving how you are now and looking forward to the MANY benefits of going raw.

I feel more at peace with my body now then I ever have before in my LIFE, including childhood.

    Give raw a go.

Psychologically, I don’t think you should be aiming for a body like a model but instead focus on eating healthy raw food. Your weight will naturally stabilise when raw long enough. It’s so easy to get carried away with ‘model’ images these days.

  • thanx, rawwaytohealth. i guess i wasn’t really wanting “the body of a model” just a healthy natural body. i’ve only been raw for almost 2 weeks now, & i’m already much happier than i was and i feel much better than i did. & shut up morning_theft, of course i was serious. what else does a 15-year-old girl want? lol

  • That’s a slippery slope, making yourself your image instead of who you are. You’ll be more happy if you love yourself.

hmm, well I lost all my extra fat but in order to get a “model body” I think you better stop trying. It will NEVER happen. That’s right I said it. What you have to do is have an image of what you with your body and face and features at it’s best. Shoot for that and you can be happy, healthy and free from low self-esteem.

  • I agree with troublesjustabubble:). Every one has a “happy weight” that your body is designed to function it’s best at. Models get that skinny from starving themselves and working out way too much (for the most part any way). “Perfect” does not come in just one package, so it is so use trying to be some one else.

just concentrate on the health benefits of going raw, and consider any physical changes an added bonus. Some models, (not all) get that skinny by starving themselves, cocaine, smoking, etc. To get a body like that you would have to make your insides ill. not good

  • troublesjustabubble is right. These models are chosen for their large cheek bones, long legs, and western ideal of beauty. You are born who you are and no amount of raw food will make you anything more or less than the beautiful person that can radiate from within.

If its not kicking on the inside, it won’t penetrate to the outside.

not trying to parent you or anything, just some friendly advice

  • yeah yeah i know. but thanx y’all, i never thought of it that way. those guys aren’t healthy!

I watched a video of a bunch of models & actresses talking about the craziness & eating disorders & stress that go along with the way they’re expected to look – not fun! Not to mention I saw how much they Photoshop away the bulges, cellulite, wrinkles, blemishes, etc. to give us an impossible to achieve image to strive for. Carol Alt is a model & is raw (although not vegan) and she said that maybe if more models & actresses would eat at least 50% raw, they wouldn’t be so crabby from starving themselves. A model’s life is not what I want, but I’d bet there are tons of models who would love the freedom & joy of a raw foodist’s life. :)

  • I have lost 10 of the 40 lbs that I put on over the last year in the last 5 weeks. I have lost an average of a lb a day over the last week since going almost 100% raw. I am never hungry at the end of the day. I eat when I am hungry but am probably eating half the calories I did before. I am exercising a lot and feel great. I am not planning on a body of a model but expect I will get down to my prior weight, if not my pre- pregnancy body!

Stomach distension isn’t a normal thing produced by a healthy diet. It should go away with the raw diet, but don’t expect it to go away over night. Expect that it could take a year or two. Regular exercise and a proper diet (variety of raw things) will help it go away.

In the meantime, enjoy the good body that you do have now.
