1.DURIAN(litteraly could eat only this for the rest of my days)
10.Durian (actually so obsessed)
Haha! You're so right Dancin Durian! When I think what most of my friends/family would list I realise just how far I've come.
It's also interesting to see who favours sweet/non sweet foods.
Oh, that's right. I totally forgot about seaweed. I couldn't live w/o my seaweeds. but what gets bumped? This is hard.
7. "ants on a log"
8. dried apricots
My favorites shift with the seasons and the availability of certain foods.
The top ten raw foods that I am living on right now are:
1. Melons (Watermelon, Cantaloupe, ect. . .)
4. Any type of berries
6. Lettuce , Tomato, Cucumber, Leek, Radish Salad
7. Seaweed wraps (nori, dulse, jicama, garlic, onion, & various other veggies) with Nama Shoyu
8. Green Juice (celery, apple, kale, lemon, ginger, lemon) & Carrot Orange Beet Juice
9. Medjool Dates
Now my top ten FAVORITE raw foods in general:
9. Shiitake Mushrooms
10. Durian (just had my first one last week and I think I am in love! :D LOL)
Seriously though these two lists were very VERY hard write, as I love a plethora of raw foods (probably why it's so easy for me to live solely off of them) so narrowing it down was painful. If you had me list everything I raw food I love you would be reading this list for awhile *chuckles*.
Like others, this list varies significantly over time. Up until recently avocado would have been on top. And some nuts (nut just nutmylk) would be on the list. Nectarines & watermelon are what hits the spot for me right now, but that will fade shortly after their season is over.
assorted melons (watermelon, honeydew, crenshaw, cantaloupe)
kale chips (lemon & salt)
mixed baby greens
sprouts (broccoli, red cabbage, kale, sunflower, etc)
assorted nutmylks (Marcona, walnut, brazil, coconut, etc)
Dates (Soft sweet types- Barhi, Halawi, etc. *not* medjool)
raw canadian white honey
In no particular order...except mangoes or peaches are my #1 favorite...
1. ataulfo mangoes
4. cherry tomatoes
7. red grapes
9. valencia oranges
pixx, no medjool dates?? they are my favorite!! probably because i've only tried medjool dates haha
joannabanana~ The one's I prefer sort of melt in your mouth, like fine caramels. Ooooooohhh mmmmmmm. :~)
I think medjools are a bit fibrous, less sweet & candy like. They are good for making crusts, and such, but I really do not choose those for snacking "as is". You really should try some of the others! Some are even *more* fibrous, and less sweet than the medjools! (Such as zahidi.) Lots of variety for all kinds of tastes.
pixx, do you buy them at a store or online? i've been to trader joes and whole foods and they only have medjool. i think medjool are pretty sweet, but i wouldn't mind a caramel-tasting kind. that sounds amazing.
online. I've bought them from Jaffe Bros (some of their stuff was not so great- not as fresh as I would have hoped.) and rawbakery.com (<-- they are NOT cheap! $6.30 for 8 oz. as of this post) I bought two kinds from the rawbakery last year (@ $8 lb- and they were incredibly fresh and moist), and 5 kinds from Jaffe this past January (I froze most of 'em). I want to try more kinds, and would LOVE to get from the Date People- but I have no where to put a large box (15 lbs, I think!?) of dates. Plus the fact that while I am trying kinds, I'd rather have just a pound or so at a time- as I might not like it!! ;)
Check out this page-- scroll down about 1/3 the page to get to the dates:
Mind boggling food-porn. I had no idea there were so many kinds of dates before I found that page last year... Ohh, The Agony! LOL.
I have just checked out that site pixx and am now drooling! Haha!
I too have only tried medjool and would love to try some other varieties.
How fun would it be to have a date-tasting party!! That site has so many dates (and apples for that matter). I didn't know there were that many varieties.
15 lbs is a little much to start with when getting dates.
The daisins and bahri are so small and adorable, but the peanut butter dates are callin my name!!
The Barhi are my all time fav-- so far! And YESSSS, the Peanut Butter have been calling ME, too!! :~)
"a date-tasting party"....Awesome idea, joannabanana! Dang, that sounds like so much fun!
Yea, sv3, that page has had me messed up for a long time, now... lol.
