i love eating greens in every possible way. however sometimes i’m just not in the mood for the regular green smoothie – give me some texture!! i’m not a baby!
wild greens, (purslane, mallow, lambsquarters, linden leaves, sorrel, miner's lettuce, chickweed, nettles... etc)
so instead of making a watery goo to gulp – i make a waterless gruel that is less in quantity but more green-concentrated. i only put half the fruit in the blender – and the rest i cut nicely on top. this way i also make sure to “chew” my smoothie rather than gulping it down without sexy saliva.
i often like to throw in some fresh ginger or a cinnamon stick or even a jalapeno.
if you want it less than optimal – then coconut shavings and real ground carob add nice texture – but digestion will slow.
persimmons or papayas are nice because they have jellying agents that make it like a curd.
mangos are goddessly.
berries for decoration are heavenly.
frozen fruit in the blender will keep the blending chill and i find it tastes better cold.
so go get those weeds from the crack in the sidewalk city boy! they cost nothin’ and the dogs blessed them!
