Cacao/Carob-Dipped Frozen Bananas!
I saw some chocolate covered frozen bananas at Trader Joe’s and figured it would be really easy to make a raw version! and I was right.
1 banana
2 tablespoon cacao or carob powder
coconut oil or coconut
butter
agave or honey
vanilla
1 pinch salt, (don't skip the salt!)
I just mixed up all of the ingredients (except the banana) until it tastes good and is a goopy consistency, like brownie batter. Then I stuck a chopstick (I didn’t have any skewers) in the banana and smothered it in the chocolatey mixture, put it
on a plate, and stuck it in the freezer.
I just used coconut oil, not butter (which I guess would make it creamier, and coconuttier)... the coconut oil makes the chocolate harden into a shell around the banana quickly, so you can eat it before it’s frozen if you’re impatient or if you just like it better that way! You can taste the banana
better when it’s not frozen solid, so I like them half-frozen.
Another variation I think I’ll try next time is adding some nut butter into the mix, and maybe some cinnamon or other spices.
Maybe I could make a frozen nutty banana with coconut oil, almond butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla… a banana with a creamy nutty shell! mmm I’m getting excited thinking of the possibilities…
Roll the coated banana around in some dried coconut, or nuts, or raisins.. or..
I’m sure there are a million variations you can do on this recipe that will all be delicious.
