Cherries are in season – so let’s have a delicious & nutritious smoothie!

Recipe Directions

Peal the mango with a knife, cut the flesh off and place in blender. Pit the cherries and place in blender. Cut the avacado in half, remove pit, and spoon out half of the avacado into the blender. Cut vanilla bean in half length-wise and scrape out the seeds with a knife and place vanilla bean seeds in blender. Place remaining ingredients in the blender and blend until very smooth and there are no chunks or bits of any of the ingredients.

Enjoy!

**Notes:

I used the flat yellow mangos b/c they have a very exotic unique flavor, but I believe the more common larger roundish orange/yellow mangos will work just as well.

You can add as many greens to this as you would like or you can omit them if your not into the green smoothie thing. I don’t recommend using the heavier greens such as kale because it is a lighter smoothie. I would recommend using lighter greens such as Spinach, Romaine, ect.

Additionally, I added a teaspoon of blue green algae and a teaspoon of spirulina to mine for added nutrition, but if you don’t have these no worries….it is just as good for you!

Wow...that is expensive! I agree with you if they are that expensive savor the flavors on their own. I am very lucky and able to get a box at the farmers market for $3. You could always use frozen cherries (if the frozen brand does not blanch the fruit before freezing).

If you can't find frozen cherries, another variation of the smoothie could be without the cherries and add a little lime juice - good luck!

mmmm this sounds great. i just wouldn't be able to justify blending cherries into a smoothie... because they're 7/lb. at the co op!!! i like to enjoy them on their own when i splurge like that on something so expensive.

Wow. I am even luckier. We went cherry picking up in Highland Springs, CA and it was free to get in and only $2 a pound! I guess I need to go back this weekend! I have so many I am actually having to freeze them myself since my family can't get through them all. I will be doing this smoothie without the avocado, though. Avocado in smoothies or pudding grosses me out....not the taste...just thought of it for some reason! Thanks for the recipe! The flat yellow mangos are called Champaigne mangos and they are the tastiest! I just planted one in my yard. :)

Thanks again Vibrance! The name suits you well. You are vibrating with life!
