Creamy Hemp Nog
My kids go nuts over this raw vegan nog! I serve it as dessert with cookies if they’ve eaten all their salad. I can’t wait to make this for thanksgiving dinner. It’s very simple and can be made with ingredients you’ve often got on hand already.
16 ounce water, or substitute fresh almond milk for best flavor
2 dates, pitted
1 large ripe banana, (use frozen bananas if you like this drink cold)
1 slice vanilla bean, about 1/2 inch piece
3 tablespoon shelled hemp seeds, more or less, to taste
1 pinch freshly ground nutmeg, to taste
1 teaspoon agave nectar, more or less, to taste, or omit if desired
This can be made with plain water and hemp seeds, but it tastes better if you add some cashews or other nuts/seeds. I usually start with at least 8 oz. almond milk, and if i don’t have any of that, i just throw in some cashews.
Put everything in the Vitamix or some other inferior blending appliance, start on low and then crank it until all the vanilla is blended. If you like your nog warm, let it run for a while. If you prefer it cold, you can either start with frozen bananas or just add ice cubes. The ice will make it frothier.

this recipe has become a springboard for other "milkshake" type drinks that i have come to love at times when i secretly want to get a real milkshake or Frappuccino. I tend to crave mocha milkshakes on sunny afternoons (like today...i think i need to make one right now!), and i crave ice cream after dinner so the hemp nog is good for satisfying that.

Drinking this right now! It is awesome. I blended it a bit too long, but I kinda like it warm.
Thanks for this recipe!

Fantastic!!! My children loved it too!!! I did just add some cashews since I didn't have any almond milk. I used an inferior blender and my dates didn't get blended up the best. I should have soaked but didn't have the patience at the time.
Definitely something to make again and again.
Thanks!!!
