Green Drink
This green drink is a nice start to breakfast, especially if you can go into the garden and pick the greens first. you can turn it into a green protein drink by adding the sunflower seeds.
1 lettuce leaf
1 baby collard or kale leaf, torn off stem
parsley leaves
(optional)
juice of half a lemon
1 teaspoon raw honey
2 tiny broccoli florets
frozen or fresh blueberries
(optional)
1 cup high quality raw apple juice or just water
1 tablespoon sunflower seeds (optional)
Put all ingredients into blender and mix until greens are shredded and mixed evenly through liquid. You can vary any or all ingredients to taste. i prefer not to blend too long. i like this drink made with water just as well as with apple juice, but that may be too “thin” tasting for some people. also, some people really don’t like this with sunflower seeds, but i love it. :)

Hey dansinraw, I usually either tear the leaves apart into smaller chunks, or chop them a bit. They should blend up fine in a normal blender if you do this...

yes, i use a regular blender. i don't even use a high setting as i don't like the idea of the food getting ground up with all that electricity. this might sound silly, but, in the same way i like water better heated on the stove instead of in the microwave, i prefer food prepared in the blender on low speeds. to me it tastes better :) you can tear the leaves up into little pieces before you throw them in and then you don't have to blend for as long. also, i leave little pieces in the drink...they don't bother me at all.

this might be a silly question (but I'm brand new), if you are blending whole leaves can you use a regular blender?
