Canadian Wild rice harvested by the Manitok is actually grass seed. Is it really raw? I don’t know. I’d say use your judgement.

Recipe Directions

Soak the rice for 8 hours then drain and rinse. (I’d soak for a while longer). Sprout rice for 2 days rinsing at least 3 times a day and drain well. You can find a nylon mesh bag for sprouting or do it how you think it’ll work.

In a bowl combine sprouted wild rice and vegetables. Use the above or your own favorite dressing. Of course there are so many variations. I don’t use the onion because I can’t tolerate it and use less apple cider vinegar.

The wild rice isn't raw - people used to think it was sprouting, but really it is just splitting from soaking in the water - oh, well, if you feel good with it, then use it! There is a "sweet brown rice" that will actually sprout, though, if anyone is interested. I bought some but haven't tried it yet.

He said he used the manitok wild rice, from Canada? He said it was actually grass seed. And yeah it does split and no sprouting is happening. I'll do more research.

Bummer. The new new Summer 2008 issue of Purely Delicious (Life Living Raw Foods) has a fantastic recipe for Wild Rice Stuffed Mushrooms which shows how to 'bloom' the rice...and then I read in Gabriel Cousens book 'Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine' that it is not raw..either is nama shoyu or Braggs Liquid Aminos that many raw food folk like. I have wild rice soaking right now, too. I bought it and I am going to eat it anyway. Where do I get sweet brown rice and what is it? Oh..thanks for the recipe.
