Yerba Mate Choco Latte
I found a raw yerba mate at a raw restaurant in Austin, Texas. I hadn't ever had it, but now that it's getting cooler, was in the mood for something like it. I love it and this morning decided to try something different, I came up with this and love it!
1 c. brewed yerba mate (1 c. warm water, 1 T. loose yerba mate, I use a French press)
1 c. sesame milk (any would work, but sesame is my favorite-recipe
below)
1 heaping teaspoon raw cacao powder
sweetner of choice to taste
sprinkle of cinnamon
a few grains of salt
sesame milk:
3 c. water
1/3 c. sesame seeds
10 dates (more or less to
suit your tastebuds)
1 t. vanilla
few grains of salt
Blend all ingredients until well mixed and warmed by the action of the blender. Taste to adjust seasonings.
Sesame milk instructions:
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Strain through cheesecloth or use a nut milk bag. I love this milk, it doesn't separate and has a nice milk like body, more
so than other milks I've made Plus sesame seeds have calcium.
