Raw Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Serves 1
Someone else deserves the credit for this recipe, but I can’t remember where I jotted it down from. All I know is that it is a really tasty and decadent recipe to whip up when you are craving something sweet. At some point, I plan to try experimenting with this for a raw version of cookie dough ice cream – yum!
PLEASE NOTE: I included this recipe in the Kids category, but children under 1 year should not be served honey. Also, some children can have adverse reactions to sesame and cacao, so please use caution.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon raw tahini
- 1 tablespoon raw cacao nibs
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- 2½ teaspoons coconut oil
- 1 drop organic vanilla extract
Preparation
Stir all ingredients in a bowl. If you can hold off long enough, it is even better chilled. Eat with a spoon or use as a sweet spread or dip for fruit pieces.

Oh boy, I have been wondering about a recipe just like this! Do you eat it cold, right out of the refrigerator? Have you tried dehydrating? I used to be a big fan of cookies all melty right out of the oven.
Crisyn writes: (February 07, 2007)
Yup – I eat it right out of the bowl! I haven’t tried dehydrating it, but I suppose there is a cookie just begging to be inspired by this recipe :-)

I just made a batch. I was very tasty! I ran it out to the garage fridge so i won’t be tempted to eat the whole bowl. There wasn’t tahini so I put sesame seeds and a tiny bit of water in the blender and made some-very economical vs. store bought.

I just made it with almond butter-
-yum! I’m going to try it with pecan butter next time-pecans and chocolate chips were always my favorite together!mango woman writes: (April 05, 2007)
OOOOO i just made this with cashews [no tahini in the house right now, and it was either cashews, sunflower seeds, or walnuts. not sure how the last two would turn out. has anyone tried any other nuts/seeds other than almonds and tahini?]
i will definitely use less coconut oil next time, and probably a little less agave, or i’ll try using dates instead of agave. this would be really yummy as a thin middle layer of a raw cake! gasp.
(:

oops! i didn’t even put the vanilla in. my mistake. I’m having it with apple slices, but i bet it’d be decadent with banana.. or berries

I think I would like it better with either almond butter or cashew…the tahini taste was a little over powering to me…but the consistancy was very similar to raw cookie dough.

Try Lecithin Powder for a reall doughy texture!! Yum!

Finally tried this today, without the coconut oil, and with less honey… yummm :o)

I just made this with a few substitutions. I used 1/2 raw tahini and 1/2 raw almond butter. I also used agave instead of honey and flax seed oil in place of coconut oil. It is pretty good. The raw almond butter adds a bit of a rough texture.

I used almond butter and skipped the coconut – loved it!!
hannahmarie writes: (October 30, 2007)
i used peanut butter and didn’t put in oil. i dehydrated… it was pretty good, but i can never make a cookie dehydrate like i want it.. it gets kind of dry on the outside :(.
hannahmarie writes: (October 30, 2007)
oh, and i subbed agave for honey.
Crisyn writes: (November 03, 2007)
Hannahmarie, try adding coconut oil to your cookie recipes. I find that helps my cookies get crispy on the outside, while staying chewy on the inside.

Thanks for the raw cookie dough ice cream idea (and the original cookie dough recipe). I made a raw pomegranate cookie dough soft serve yesterday and posted it on my blog tonight. Delish!

I just made this and added 1/2 tsp of raw cocoa powder…chocolate chocolate chip! MMMmmmmm
gordienali writes: (February 18, 2008)
I added the lecithin powder like kauigirl sugegsted and a pinch of salt and some chopped pecans (my mom always puts pecans in her chocolate chip cookies). I cut the amount of cacoa nibs in half….
not too bad!
Chris S writes: (February 19, 2008)
Ah yes but how much lecithin powder?
staciaweller writes: (March 11, 2008)
I just made this and enjoyed it (so did my kids who have been rejecting much of the raw ‘processed’ foods).
The only thing I’d tweak is this: a little less honey and a tad less coconut oil in ratio.

Hmmm, just made this very good, for us vegans u can substitute the honey with agave(4TBS) or maple (2TBS)syrup

Oh My Goodnes… this is Amazing… I used a Cashew/Brazil/Almond Nut Butter instead of the Tahini (as this flavor in recipes makes me feel sick)... I used Cocoa Powder instead of Nibs (i have never seen these where i live).. after reading the posts above i purposely didnt add the Coconut Oil until i had mixed everything else… the mixture was quite dry so i did add the Coconut Oil and then it was PERFECT!
Thankyou so much for this recipe, My Son who is Double SAD.. will love this instead of Nutella.. wowee… I am also going to use this in some desert/sweet form for non-raw friends…
Awesome!!! I am 1 Happy Customer :)

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I thought to myself when I read this recipe “gross Tahini does NOT taste like Cookie dough” But I finally broke down and made it….It barely made it to the fridge it is so good!! Im hoping even better after a chill.
BeckyT writes: (July 14, 2008)
oh also I added a pinch of salt
pandaonacupcake writes: (July 15, 2008)
I tried this with 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder instead of 1 tbsp nibs since I don’t have any. And my tahini was really soft, so I didn’t add the coconut oil at all. It was pretty good (didn’t chill,...it didn’t really make it that long), and it kind of reminded me of marshmallow or something. I can’t quite place it, but it’s good!

this is an awesome recipe. added some soaked chia seeds to it to make a pudding. color wasn’t the prettiest, but the texture and taste was damned good.
