Your Favorite Ol' Time Reese's Peanut (Or Almond Butter) Cup
Here’s your raw peanut (or almond) butter cup! I’m not trying to be controlling, but you really can’t replace the cocoa butter with coconut oil. Cocoa butter just completes the chocolate flavor. Yum!
Ingredients
- 2 cups raw cocoa butter, melted in dehydrator for 4 hours
- ½ cup raw agave nectar
- 1 cup raw wild jungle peanut butter (rawguru.com) or raw almond butter
- few tablespoons raw cocoa powder
Preparation
Blend melted cocoa butter, cocoa powder, and agave till smooth. QUICKLY pour the chocolate halfway into those paper cupcake molds (I don’t know what they’re called. Top each cup with some nut butter, leaving room for more chocolate, and pour more chocolate over the nut butter for each cup. Freeze 20 mins, and dive into that Reese’s goodness!

OMG!! what a perfect idea! I will be so over that in a jiffy…...drool!

cool! I can’t wait to make these either! I haven’t tried them yet. I was trying to imitate rawguru.com’s raw peanut butter cup, without all the expense! I’ll start dehydrating my cocoa butter tonight…..

Oh sounds lovely. I heard if you add some maca to your almond butter you get a more traditional pb taste. Plus if you add in some agave to sweeten it and whip it up with you hand mixer making it nice and fluffy it would be divine claire. I hope this helped :).

oooh, yeah! good ideas Chris!
rawclaire writes: (February 27, 2008)
oh yeah totally! I buy some maca today :)

Is there any other way to melt the cocoa? Slosh is sans dehydrator. OH NO!!!!!!!!
rawclaire writes: (February 27, 2008)
Well maybe you could use the microwave on DEFROST, or your oven, if you monitor it often. What does slosh is sans mean? How come you can’t use a dehydrator?
achin70 writes: (February 27, 2008)
Slosh: You can also try melting the cacao butter using the top of a double boiler on lowest heat, stirring often. You can also try using a saucepan if you don’t have a double boiler, being extra careful with the temperature. One last idea would be to place a bowl of the cacao butter inside a larger bowl of warm water (about 100 degrees), being careful not to get any water on the cocoa butter. In all instances, grating the cocoa butter first would helping immensely in the melting process. Hope this helps!

I just made these for my mother and I. They taste like a totally healthy peanut butter cup!!!!!So delicous!!!!! They totlly brought her mood up :) By the way, don’t add much cocoa powder because it will become too chocolately. Add it little by little, being carefulnot to overdo. :)

Hey rawclaire, what does that mean… a totally healthy peanut butter cup? Is that like a non-fat cookie that you can tell something is missing? Or is it more of the fact that you know it’s healthy so you can really bask in its decadence? ;)
rawclaire writes: (February 28, 2008)
Well, I guess it’s a bit fatty, but since it’s raw fat, it doesn’t bother me. And it’s hard to overeat because it’s so filling. No, it is more of the fact that you know it’s healthy so you can bask in its decadence! Food that tastes healthy tastes yucky, when I said it tasted totally healthy I meant that it is totally healthy-it’s pure decadence!!!!11

LOL… good deal!
Slosh-uh writes: (February 28, 2008)
Slosh is sans means Slosh is without. Slosh does not own a dehydrator. So sad!
And thanks for the tips guys I really want to try these. Peanut butter and chocolate combinations frequently steer me far from the raw path.
Chris S writes: (February 28, 2008)
Well you have a sink and a bowl right? Assuming this. Fill it partially with hot water. Place the fats in the bowl and dip it into the water to slowly heat the bowl and the fats to melt them. Don’t the bowl in the whole time, take it in and out just letting it in long enough to warm it up enough to help melt the fats to a more liquidy state. Hope that idea helps, and that goes for all you crazy sans dehydrator double boiler types :).

Okay… I just made this. Although I cheated by getting the Wilderness Family’s chocolate sauce, it was awesome and easy to make. I made a test batch and it was so rich and decadent. Good deal rawclaire

You can also make this by melting Coconut Oil then adding agave and Carob Powder. I prefer Carob over Cacao… plus, its easier to blend. Any combination is delicious :)
rawclaire writes: (February 29, 2008)
Actually carrie6296, you need to use cocoa butter if you want it to taste like chocolate. I like coconut oil chocolate, but it doesn’t work in this recipe. So stick with the cocoa butter!
And male-dietician, you seriously should make the cocoa butter version. It’s awesome. I made these and I’m getting a digital camera soon so I’ll post a picture. :)
OK guys, I have to say that if you make this with coconut oil, you will really be missing out. I hope you use the cocoa butter.
Male_Dietitian writes: (March 01, 2008)
yea… I’m going to get som cocao butter. I went to the health food store and they wanted $40 for 16 oz so I didn’t get it. I do want to get some cocao butter cuz I realize that I only need a small bit to help me get over that chocolate craving.. PLUS the chocolate sauce was amazing over strawberries… ;) Thanks again rawclaire!

your welcome male dietician! It doesn’t taste the same with coconut oil. You can buy the cocoa butter online at rawguru.com, I’m not sure but I think it’s cheaper. After I tried the cocoa butter I said yuck to the coconut oil. lol
