Apple Cinnamon Oat Bars

Makes 2 dehydrator trays worth of bars

Great bars for the kids!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups soaked oat groats, soak overnight
  • 10 small apples, peeled
  • ¾ cup unpastuerized raw honey
  • ½ cup raw agave nectar
  • ¼ cup cinnamon

Preparation

Process together soaked oat groats, peeled apples, honey, agave nectar and cinnamon. Taste to make sure it is sweet enough or not too sweet as you add the honey and agave nectar. You could also add some raisins if you like.

Spread evenly over two teflex dehydrator sheets and dehydrate at 115 F for 8 hours. You may want to score them so that they break into the shape you want. Flip onto mesh sheets and dehydrate for another 6 – 8 hours until desired moistness or dryness is reached.

I will add the raisins, or perhaps apricots – what do you think? I have dried apricots on hand, but no raisins at the moment. I am always afraid to add or delete ingredients. No confidence in food preparation. I am always on the search for recipes with no nuts. I love them, but eat too many.

I think either would be great! In fact, I might try apricots next time as well! My two year old loves these bars!

Hi GreenGirl,My question is when you say to 2 cups soaked oat groats do you end up with 4 cups for the recipe? So I guess I’m asking do I soak 1 cup of grain or 2?
