makes 12 truffles

a sweet way to get your calci-yum

Ingredients

  • ½ cup raw tahini

  • ¼ cup unhulled raw sesame seeds, soaked or not if you prefer
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 inch vanilla bean, seeds only
  • extra sesame seeds

Preparation

you may wish to lightly grind seeds if using unsoaked.

1.mix tahini, honey, and 1/4 cup sesame seeds. taste to see if sweet enough, adjust honey.

2.divide mixture into thirds.add cocoa to one part, cinnamon to another and vanilla to the third. you may need to add a little extra sesame seed to the vanilla mix,to stiffen.

3.chill untill firm.

4.divide each part into 4, one inch balls.

5.roll in sesame seeds.

store in fridge.

of course strict vegans may want to try a substitute sweetner, please let us know if you come up with anything! (dates or agave?)......

p.s.i cut out the missing “bites” in the pic with a spoon to show the different flavors!(i realized what it looked like after posting hehe)

Looks fantastic! Very nice presentation, and I think the “bites” only adds to it. :-) There are a lot of halva recipes out there, but I think I’ll actually try this one.

I love truffles and I recently started to like halva too, so this is a great combo. I made mine with agave nectar (equal amounts that was called for honey) and it turned out fine. I also ran out of tahini so I ground up some sesame seeds and also added seom cold-pressed coconut oil to make it nice and creamy, they turned out great!
