Root Beer in the Raw
Around 4 cups depending on how much ice you use
This is my “in progress” version of raw Root Beer. I will adding other ingredients in the future to get even a better root-y taste but this turned out pretty tasty!
NOTE: This recipe is for home use only. My bf and I sell this for our raw food home business so this is not for commerical sale use! Please respect that! ;)
Ingredients
- ½ teaspoon sarsaprilla root powder
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract or vanilla bean
- 2 cups water
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- dash of cinnamon
- few pieces of fennel or anise oil/powder
- ice
- 6 medjouli dates, remove pits
- ½ cup plain Kombucha (optional)
Preparation
Blend all ingredients in blender until well blended. If you are adding the Kombucha, add at the end – it gets foamy. The Kombucha is to add “fizziness” – a replacement for carbonated water. :)

This sounds amazing! I’ll be on the lookout for sasparilla root powder next time I’m at the co-op! Thanks!

I haven’t been able to find the powder at the HFS -I saw the herbs though. I got mine from Mountain Rose Herbs.
